Match Report (as much as I can be arsed to type)

Well, I say what a performance, but the first thing I have to say is that I have no idea, based on the two Oldham games Ive witnessed, how they are not relegation fodder.

The first half was fairly even. Oldham didn't have an effort on target, but we didn't create too much either. Devaney had a shot saved and then Shuker hit the inside of the post from 8 yards when he certainly should have scored.

But the second half was a performance full of passion, skill and excellence. First Howard did brilliantly down the right, and Hayes, who had been woeful for 45 minutes, teed up Shuker to smash home for his 10th league goal.

I almost expected us to go into our shells, but just the opposite, Hayes picked up the ball and beat 3 or 4 men before crossing beautifully for McPhail to volley home only his 2nd career goal from open play. We were rampant, and Devaney added an excellent third with a drilled shot from the edge of the box.

Reid and Kay superb at the back, McPhail playing like the best midfielder in the division, Shuker and Devaney (mainly after his goal) back towards their best. Colgan didn't make a save.

Southend and everyone else can watch out if we play like that for the rest of the season. :clap:

Ratings

Colgan 7 - Had nothing to do, but did it well.

Austin 7 - Harshly booked, but solid in general.

Reid 9 - Thought he was superb and answered his critics. Won EVERYTHING in the air, particularly all the long-throws.

Kay 9 - Just as good for me. Superb passion, including a lungbursting run upfield at 1-0.

Heckingbottom - 7 - Again very solid.

Shuker 8 - Thought he was very much back to his best. Unlucky in the first half when he should have scored but made no mistake second time around.

McPhail 9 - MOTM - Outstanding and when he plays like that, I honestly think hes the best player in the division. Couldnt believe my eyes when I saw him arriving in the box to score.

Howard 8 - Excellent again. Passion personified, wears his heart on his sleeve.

Devaney - 8 - A great goal, and following it, he was back at his confident best terrorising the Oldham defence.

Hayes 7 - On his first half performance I'd have struggled to give him more than a 2. But two assists later and we're 2-0 up. People can say as much as they like that assists don't matter, but try telling that to Shuker and McPhail today and I'm sure they'd laugh in your face. Looked comfortable in midfield, but please Paul, do NOT have a half as bad as that again.

Richards 6.5 - Another who improved after the break, but his touch let him down a few times and maybe didn't win enough in the air. Was important for holding up the ball after we were infront and allowing midfielders to burst past him.

Good to see Bobby back and Nardiello working hard. We pressed every ball in the second half, but how are Oldham not bottom of the league? Absolutely atrocious.

what about chris taylor ? he got marked superbly out of the game by devaney and heckingbottom.

 

Good summary but one point.....

Oldham were made to look **** by our work rate.</p>

If you allow them to play they are a different prospect.</p>

We defended as a team from back to front and if we carry on playing like that then 4 victories and automatic is there for the taking.</p>

Its also nice to see a positive posting board tonight.</p>

his sister (who as already been ribbed for what she was reffered to in the program lol) is beautiful and stunning. much more so then his girlfriend that he thinks is fitter then angellina jolie haha.

 

I can't think of any brother sister duo.....

That has such an ugly male and a good looking female unless they have different Dads.</p>

well coors have fit sisters and a ugly brother in the band. chris as a gorgeous sister who i have to say is alot better looking then his girlfriend (not that shes not hot).

 

Oh aye..

He's outstanding, me and Si have him becoming both of our favourite players at the moment, his passion is superb. Swindon fans said he always wore his heart on his sleeve and that if we can keep him off the booze we have a star.
