    Doesn't sound like a 3-0 to me.

Barnsley's Reuben Noble-Lazarus became the youngest ever Football League player in his side's comprehensive defeat at Ipswich.

The striker, aged 15 years and 45 days, beat by 113 days a record equalled in 1951 and which had stood since 1929 during the Portman Road clash.

Barnsley were already three down by the time Noble-Lazarus was introduced after 84 minutes. Jonathan Stead, Owen Garvan and Ivan Campo scored for Ipswich.

The home side made four changes from Saturday's draw with Crystal Palace, while Barnsley made one change following the weekend draw with Norwich.

The Tykes looked threatening early on against a nervy Ipswich side.

Diminutive midfielder Diego Leon picked up a loose ball from Alex Bruce after nine minutes but had his 18-yard shot tipped round the post by Richard Wright.

And defender Dennis Souza Guedes then headed straight at Wright from close range from the resulting corner.

The Tykes should have gone ahead after 14 minutes but Iain Hume fired straight at Wright with only the goalkeeper to beat after being played in by Jon Macken.

But it was the home side who broke the deadlock against the run of play after 20 minutes.

Stead picked up goalkeeper Heinz Muller's fluffed clearance and raced into the box to place a shot into the bottom corner from 15 yards.

Muller partially made amends for his error on the half-hour when he saved brilliantly from Alan Quinn, who was played in by a clever back-heel from Pablo Counago.

Soon after, Ipswich midfielder Campo had a dipping 20-yard free-kick tipped over by the German.

Souza Guedes nearly equalised for the visitors in first-half stoppage time but his header from a Leon corner was saved by Wright.

Ipswich, buoyed by their half-time lead, started the second period in a more positive fashion and Stead chipped over from 25 yards after 48 minutes.

But the visitors remained dangerous on the break. Macken tested Wright following a sharp turn on the edge of the box and midfielder Anderson De Silva poked wide after being set up by Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

Ipswich hit back and doubled their lead after 66 minutes through Irish midfielder Owen Garvan.

Garvan broke from his own half, collected a return ball from Counago and curled in an effort from just inside the area.

Campo opened his account for Ipswich three minutes later following another mistake by Muller, who allowed the Spaniard's 30-yard effort to squirm in.

Ipswich were now dominant and nearly had a fourth after 74 minutes but Quinn shot wide after being set up by Counago.

Noble-Lazarus looked lively when he came on and managed to win a corner with one of his few touches but his Barnsley side went home empty-handed.

    Does to me

I cant find anywhere it says we scored a goal and it does say they scored 3, so therefore it looks like a 3-0 to anyone. Sounds like we had a few shots , but did not score and Muller fecked up twice.

Nowhere in there does it say Davey let the ball squirm under his body or hit it straight at the keeper when through on goal. Strange that!

I never said it did ! What I said was it says 3-0

we didnt score and they scored 3, that makes it 3-0 to Ipswich, unless you dont count goals that come from mistakes and it was only 1-0 Or you count a shot saved by their keeper as a goal to us , then that makes 1-1.

I now see what you mean , we drew 1-1 good result LADS. Well Done

I think you know that I was suggesting that the match report and the stats make it look like a much closer game than 3-0.

But it was 3-0 and for Davey to say it wasn`t is wrong

What he should have said was I am sacking the fecking lot of our strikers and playing the kids. I would have applauded him for that.
Tomorrow it will be the fans fault, then the ref, then something else.
It does not matter if it looks close, if we cant score then we will always get beat.
Simon Davey can have no excuse for the strikers, they are all his signings, in fact every player on Sat was and only Devaney tonight was nt. This is his team and they are not winning matches. We dont get any points for nearly being good enough, only for winning.
