Went to the game with low expectations which is just as well

To be honest it was a game of 2 halves ... until they scored ]and then afterwords

First half there wasnt much between the sides we had our fair share of possesion and almost created several good chances - we should have scored from a corner when Foster had a free header but failed to direct it at the target. also Cotterill had a good shot just past the post - though had the ball to him been better and he had not had to check back he would have had a much better chance

Those 2 chances apart we got into several good positions but failed to put the killer ball in

Southampton not much different had a couple of efforts without troubling steele but then first real chance when a ball fell kindly in the area and well finished Steele no chance

After that to be honest there was only one possible result

Second half it looked like a top vs bottom clash Southamptons second goal was mostly down to woefull defending and after that it seemed both sides settled for 2-0 as the saints just coasted to a comfortable victory.

The huge concern I have is our lack of creativity - the loss of Butterfield, Vas Te and Drinkwater and also Jim OBrien has left a gaping hole in the midfield which is not close to being filled by the current players

For ages we had a leaky defence but got out of trouble by scoring - now unless Davies produces an individual goal we arent scoring - mostly due to lack of the final ball

Lucky we got our points before Christmas
