i have noticed that a lot of people keep saying how well matt carbon played on saturday however i'm not sure they were actually at the swindon game.

first of all the amount of times he lost cureton was criminal but people seem to ignore how much kay, tonge and austin covered for him. he was average in the air in the first half but good in the second. and then people go slated kay because he mis-kicked the ball once...he didn't lose an aerial ball all day!

with the pace and aerial ability of kay and the toughness of reid our defence should be steadied by saturday...althouh i'd still like to see another centre back being signed.

all i can say is i thought that carbon was the worst player on saturday and it doesn't sound like he was any better yesterday...

on a positive...compared to last year we look better all over the park...i hope ritchie carries on improving the lads.

v Swindon I thought Carbon had a good 2nd half...

in the way Kay had a great 1st half. He was certainly pretty ordinary 1st half, noticeably when stepping out late and leaving them onside.

well when i say he had pace, i meant for a centre half.

to be fair kay is very athletic and last season was a prime example of second season blues. just look at kevin nolan etc for other examples of young players doing the same.

i'm sure he will have a good season this year, especially alongside paul reid...and who knows when richard kell puts his legs back together we might actually have a team who can knock a few heads by christmas...

so far this season (all two games) there are more positives to take than negatives...can't be bad!
