From sky sports Blackburn are ready to send defender Dominic Matteo out on loan in a bid to revive his career. The Scot has slipped down Mark Hughes' pecking order at Ewood Park following a string of injury problems. Rovers chairman John Williams believes a spell away from Ewood Park would be of benefit to the 32-year-old, but no offer has as yet been made. "I think that sending Dominic out on loan might be a possibility but at the moment I'm not aware of any enquiries," Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. "However, if somebody asked for him I'm sure Mark will make a decision based on the best interests of the squad." Football League clubs are permitted to make loan signings outside of the transfer window and a number of teams could be alerted to Matteo's availability. Williams, meanwhile, has confirmed that the club will continue to monitor the progress of Wael Gomaa after the Egyptian impressed during a summer trial at Ewood Park. "Mark is a great lover of trialists and there will be a number of them come and go," added Williams. "The idea of them being invited to join in training is excellent because you get to see the player at close hand, at the office as it were. "He (Gomaa) came over but his club (Al Ahli) really wanted to keep him until Christmas. We had a look at him and we may try to get him back for a period between now and then."
Get Him Ritchie Be a player who would bring in fans and shore up the defence. I would have him in a flash and if he got badly injured again we could send him back anyway. Worth the risk.
