I can't find the article on-line, but in the edition I have from today Matthew Dunn has written an article about us entitled 'Hero Odejayi tuning into family fortunes', some of the stuff in that article is shocking, including: '...ignor the fact that the fans were crammed into uncomfortable wooden benches in a tired old stadium;' '...take no notice of the muddy pitch, bobbly in places' '...overlook, if you can, fans relieving themselves in the sinks at half-time because the toilet facilities at Oakwell are inadequate for a capacity crowd of beer-fuelled supporters' '...unfortunately the F.A. will not turn a blind eye to the fact that after the final whistle - and indeed just before - supporters spilled onto the pitch' '...this was hardly total football. It was not even like watching Brazil.' '...they were beaten into submission by hard work, collective spirit, never say die attitude and scuttle fulls of grit - excuse the stereotype' ETC ETC I only have this bloody rag because I bought all the papers this morning. What a tosspot that bloke really is. What an arsehole.
Daily Star Did A Cracking Job Today * Brian Woolnough finally mentioned us in his column and did a good piece on us. * A piece on Odejayi and how his religious dad was unable to watch his son play Chelsea. * A page on how three out of four bets on the cup winners is on us and if we win the cup the bookies will have to pay out over a million. * A page on the differences between the two clubs (areas, wages, cars etc), followed by them saying most Barnsley players are single, drink in O Dwyers and that Barnsley is one of the best party towns in the North.
RE: elaborate on the Odejayi one? nt His dad is a preacher guy and was away abroad at the time and so couldn't watch his son play.
Well we have got uncomfortable wooden seats in the old stand and the pitch does look in a bad state and I did see blokes pissing in the sink at half time and supporters did run on the pitch and we did show hard work, collective spirit, never say die attitude and scuttle fulls of grit. We did play some good football as well like, which is the one thing I would disagree with.
All the Journalists are housed in the West Stand the press box is just behind the directors box hence he wouldn't have a great impression of the ground or facilities It was nice to see a full press box for a change mind
i like the west stand, its sentimental of everything about the club and were football actually came from, someting the top premiership clubs seam to be completly forgetting.
To be honest, if he was in the West Stand, then the toilet facilities are **** and fans were probably pissing in sinks and yes, they still have wooden seats too (but they have them all over the place still and wood is much nicer than plastic surely).
RE: Wooden benches??????? The wooden seats he might have seen if he was in the press box are a lot more comfortable and warmer than the blown plastic variety.
