I have nothing against Matt Murray (that's why I'm not replying on Indie Red's "hate" thread). But today's offering, rather than retreating in the light of what has emerged (or rather, what hasn't) seems aimed at attempting to shore up last week's questionable "exclusive". "A price was initially agreed". The club categorically state they are not evaluating any offers at the moment. "McCrory ...declined to be interviewed as he has signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement". Regarding what? No offers are being evaluated. "It is thought he is wanting £5M for the club..." Regardless of whether a deal is eventually done, it is clear the consortium will not now be in place today, and hence can not influence Barnsley's chances of survival this season. Below Matt's piece is a report on the last year's accounts, in which the auditors state that relegation will cost the club £6M. So how can the value of Mr Cryne's stake be evaluated at this point, given that it must be heavily influenced by survival or relegation? The problem with this reporting is that yet again, Matt does not appear to have spoken to the club, even to the extent of indicating that the club was contacted but declines to comment. In fact not even McCrory is speaking to Matt. Oh dear!
