Wouldn't be unhappy with the latter at all. Nearly hit double figures from midfield in League One last season.
I agree. He would be the main one of these we would need tbh. When Helik is sold we ideally need a more experienced CB to come in to play alongside Mads and Kitching rather than a 20 year old loanee. We are desperate for some good midfield options though.
Madds is a pretty experienced defender now at League One level. Kitching, whilst not experienced per say, is now at the level he likely would have found himself at as one of Forest Green Rovers' best players. If Madds, Williams and Morris stay, then the experience is needed in the middle of the pitch alongside Matty Wolfe.
Don't give the media any ideas. You can bet with their lazy journalism they will be linking us to players who have played for Duff very quickly.
He is yeah but his best spells have come when playing alongside an older head like Solly and Helik. He seems to thrive when the pressure is off him so to say.
Jamie Pollock.. presume his dad, ex Boro and Man City, was a run through a brick wall kind of player.
But he should be the older head now. He's had three seasons regularly playing Championship football and we're now in League One. Won't be many players at League One level with over 100+ appearances in the Championship inc. the Playoffs. Helik is only two years older and 30 or so first team games wiser.
Agree that I think Mads will move on. Given his contractual position (of just 12 months left, plus an option) and time he's been here, it makes sense for him to move on and sense for us to move him on if we get a decent bid. The whole point of longer contracts was to try and get higher fees. Anyone thinking a player with 12 months left on their contract is more valuable than someone with 12+12. I have to question their sanity.
Another relegation on our hands if we play moon at any time this coming season. Absolutely shocking player.
We have Madds contracted until 2024. What we get for him this Summer will be a fraction of what we could get next Summer if he has a season like Liam Lindsay did in League One. Helik definitely moves on. Madds is 50/50.
He should be, but IMO he has always looked better with that older more assured head around him. When Solly came in he improved so much with that leadership around him. Someone else in that ilk would be ideal especially when we do lose Helik to add another older player in.
I think he will stay. CEO said we won't have a full on fire sale but we all know some will happen. I think they will be keen to keep Mads and I think we will just about hold onto him. Helik is the main one that will gather interest.
I know it sounds daft with the club as it is but I actually think Mads likes playing for Barnsley and is content here. Again, if the club want to sell him to raise funds, then he will have to go,unfortunately.
