up to last season I was a regular at oakwell but work/family circumstances now mean I go to a couple of games a season. Therefore my views on the recently signed players are taken from highlights. stats and views given by mates. I feel i get a pretty good idea about the players and how good they are. The one I cannot work out is Matty Done. So, is he any good. Have we got a potentiol gem on our hands or is he not good enough? What are your views on him?

Flatters to deceive mostly. Gets into good positions but then his final ball lets him down. Decent left sided player on his day which makes him stand out occasionally amongst a team of toilers.

He looked a threat early on, but mainly as an impact substitute. When he started games, I often forgot he was on the pitch. I don't think his form was helped in the beginning by the manager, who picked him in numerous positions. But once used regularly on the left wing, he showed real promise - but lacked consistency.

But, IMO, towards the January window, and after the departures of our star players, he started to come in to his own. And, up until his injury during the latter stage of the campaign, he was for me our only real threat, and strung together a run of good games.

He's still young, and has quick feet to go with his decent pace. He was one of the few players last year to run at the opposition, and chipped in with a handful of goals/assists. In fact, his finishing impressed me, especially when baring down on goal. Very composed.
He also works hard to track back and help his full back, similar to O'Brien on the other flank.

I think overall, he's still a work in progress, with plenty of potential. Certainly one of KK's better recruits.

But, my opinion may not be shared universally, so don't take my word as gospel.

I liked him and think next season he will be better still. Scored a couple of vital goals especially when we beat the league champions on their own ground to pick up our first points. If he can keep away from the injuries he had last season he can be a vital player for us.

    Will rule the football world

With David Perkins and Mad Dog Dawson as his enforcers.

We are destined to become the Dave Courtney of The Championship.

Blows hot and cold. Sometimes he looks like a proper player, his pace can be devastating, but all too often he goes missing and you forget he's on the pitch. When he starts games he's often subbed by the 60th minute as he simply isn't producing. There's something there, but he needs to work out how to get more involved if he wants to be a first team regular and have a positive impact on the team.

I believe the potential is there

To become an established Championship player. There were occasions when his creativity, ability to keep a cool head when through on goal and capability to bring balance to the team were a real pleasure to witness. However, that has to be balanced out against the occasions when he made little, or no, contribution whatsoever. A lot of that can be put down to age and inexperience at this level. It is my opinion he needs to bring a greater level of consistency to his positive contributions if he is to fulfil the potential I believe is there.

If Craig Davies had the composure he has one on one with the keeper hed be a much better player! Matty scored some beauties when one on one.

Agree with most of the above opinions, also for me he also needs to work on his body strength he gets eased off the ball far too easy.

At times second half of season he seemed to be our only attacking threat apart from Davies shooting from here, there and everywhere.

Frustrates me sometimes, on many occasions he picks the ball up near the hafway line, makes a blistering run down the left wing, holds the ball up by the corner flag, and then is lost as he is forced onto his right foot, which he never uses. If he has half an inch of space, he'd get a cross in with his left, but 7 times out of 10, he can't get a first time ball in, which inevitably means his efforts are useless. Has provided some decent crosses this season, just maybe not often enough.

One part of his game I do like, is when he comes inside to offer support to the strikers, usually picks the ball up from a knock down and burst into the box; that sort of movement can only be positive as he could either have an attempt on goal as a result, or draw out a foul from an opposition. He's scored a few goals from similar moves.

While I think he's a decent player, I reckon he won't improve much in the future, he's adequate, but his lack of a right foot stops him from being a very good player. Hope he proves me wrong like.

Quick edit, last season, I thought his best position was just behind the striker, as an attacking midfielder rather than on the left wing, played there a few times earlier on in the season and looked pretty good.

Seems a good un to me. Plenty of pace and a very decent left foot. As said above he needs to produce more consistently, but that goes for most of our players. Could be a key player if he can stay fit all season.

I was constantly berating his lack of involvement, but a handful of crucial goals/assists suggests he isn't completely useless.

Disagree that his best position is just behind the strikers. Whenever I've seen him play there I thought he was a hindrance. Got the ball a lot, but wasn't sure how best to use it and often caused the attack to break down.

Looked promising and would echo most of the above. I would add though that he has the weakest shot from distance I've ever seen. When he kicks the ball it looks like his leg's going to snap.

Absolutely mint golfer though. Text book swing. Think he won some kind of golf ball driving competition
