No idea of the significance but Maurice should have communicated with the fans better. Seemed invisible even the flak was flying and Hecky was being asked questions way out of his remit.
Get ready for the ride you Reds. Fingers crossed if it does happen we are about to embark on a new phase in our Clubs chequered history. Every faith that Patrick Cryne has been meticulous in his checks and that everything stacks up. Ever grateful for his commitment over the past fourteen years.
This is the biggest off-the-pitch thing for the club since administration. It could make us the new Bournemouth or it could make us the new Portsmouth. I can't imagine anyone would buy the club with a view to asset-stripping it or bleeding it dry. It would be like Dracula sinking his teeth into a skeleton. But some successful business people are very stupid. Look at Trump. Anyway, bring on a new future.
theres technically not much to bleed dry... we aren't portsmouth , we aren't in the same situation and we wont end up like them
I suspect it won't be particularly spectacular - a continuation of our current model, but with the recruits from a grade or 2 higher.
The investors aren’t idiots. Shrewd global businessmen. Did a good job at nice. However they’re in it for profit and will move on quickly. Don’t expect them to stick around for more than 3-5 yrs. Huge point in our history. We will become a commodity, and our very proud history of local ownership comes to an end.
good luck to Maurice in the future , not sure exactly what he did at the club but all the best anyway
A note of caution to those seeking comfort in the Nice model. The consortium took over a club just over a year ago, who had finished 4th in Ligue 1 and the value of their outgoings have exceeded their incomings since then. They improved their league position by one place and therefore qualified for the Champions League, but it's far too early to draw any long term positives from their situation.
A very fair point. Although I'm assuming from finishing 4th as a starting point, breaking into the Champions League was their short-term remit. Once a club has broken into that group in their league, they're already into a different financial level. That's the same with BFC and the Premier League. That will be their goal, and they obviously feel it's attainable.
Of course. People keep referring to Nice as proof that they are 'good eggs'. It's far too early to make that assessment.
I I hope we don't PR. The night before our FA Cup Semi against Cardiff, some Portsmouth fans were still in the Hilton Hotel after their win against West Brom. We were having a good time with Brendan O'Connell and Gerry Taggart when suddenly a fight broke out near the bar. It was obvious that some lads in blue shirts were Pompey fans. Two of the lads they were fighting with were dressed in red. Some of our lads were about to step in when security arrived and broke the fight up. Bizarrely it turned out that it was Portsmouth fans fighting amongst themselves. ! Absolutely ridiculous.
Is it just a co-incidence that we have a new CEO from a French club? I mean, Ganaye, just seems very random that he came to Barnsley.
