Following on from the West Stand thread, what do we reckon is our maximum potential average attendance? Based on past evidence, if riding high in the Championship we could expect around 14,000-15,000 for most home games, with a few big games close to selling out. If we were in the Premier League is a bit harder to judge as we sold out last time we were there. I don't know how what the demand was that season, but realistically I think if capacity allowed, we'd start maxing out at 24-25,000 home fans.

12,000 tops for the run of the mill games - Burton home 15,000??? We will push 15,000 - 20,000 for the bigger games.

I didn't mean for next season specifically, I was more on about the maximum theoretically achievable for BFC as a club if things are going well.

You always get loads jumping on the bandwagon, trouble is a lot of these will jump off just as easily. Look at Middlesbrough when they were having a few lean years in the Championship, their ground always looked completely empty on the highlights

Well spotted l work with a Boro fan and we always talk about this, they've got to be the most fickle fans in football.

2009 Premier League they averaged 28,429
    2010 Championship 19,948
    2014 Championship 15,748
    2016 Championship 24,627

I would have thought the high water mark was the premiership season. First ever season in the top division...everybody wanted to see that. If we had stayed it might have tailed off a little and would only ever have gone back to that level or above with a long period in the top flight. Don't think that's ever going to happen though I'm afraid but never say never.

Another consideration is that now more than ever it'd be likely lots would buy season tickets just to watch cheap premier league football- I know lots with Hull season tickets who previously had Wigan ones that just like to watch live Premier League football for whatever reason.

I will never understand that but each to their own I guess. I think I watched one premier league game on tv last season and that was a Leicester match towards the end. Not remotely interested in watching it normally. I guess you see some decent football occasionally but how can that compare to the highs to be gained from the success of a side you REALLY support?

Completely agree, even supporting a "big club" without being from near there or regularly attending games is so alien to me- how do you ever feel the same as we did just winning the JPT even when your main connection is watching them in the pub every now and again. Must get something out of it but that level of disconnect seems to me like it would feel like supporting "cloud" on the weather and occasionally checking the results and celebrating when there was cloud, but still making a point of wearing a clouds shirt when you go on holiday

Think the demand last time in the premier league was great and we could have sold more season tickets than we did. Don't know if that would have kept up had we stayed up. Top end of championship we would be getting 13-15k home fans a game like we did under Bassett.
