..on an unexperienced/unproven manager like Hignett or Moore, etc. instead of hiring an experienced manager with a second rate record. All good managers have to start somewhere. Taking such a gamble may fail, but it might as well pay off. When we hired Mel Machin in 1989, Martin O'Niel applied for the job as well. He was unproven as a manager at the time, but went on to great things. I don't know if Hignett or Moore have applied for the job, but maybe they'll start a great career in management with Barnsley? Anyway.. As we haven't succeeded in bringing in an experienced manager with a good record at this level, I'm all for the Hignett, Moore alternatives. We can't do any worse in the league than right now.
All appointments are a risk. It sometimes just clicks regardless of other factors. Experienced or not its a 50/50 on staying up.
