But reading KK's comments about the Butterfield situation, I get the impression we are about to get shafted again by the club we love. He denies that Newcastle or anyone else have been in touch regarding Jake or any financial offer. He also said at some point that others cant approach the lad - untrue, he is perfectly entitled to at this stage. He laughs off the talk of £2M, then himself rates him at £3M. But says we wont get anywhere near that for him. Now, to me, he doesnt need to say owt like that. Again, its negative, and predicting another **** deal for our player. He may be correct in what he's saying, but we arent retards, we expect to get our pants pulled down again - blame the Don for not extending the lads deal last summer. But the key point of what KK said, that has got me cynical, is where he states "we'll not get it sorted (the fee) until the end of August, or September" IMO, thats the clubs ready-made excuse to pop the eventual fee back into the club at the end of the transfer window. In other words, we wont be spending THAT money, or the Vaz Te money to recruit from May to August. But for all we know, the fee for Jake COULD be well over a million pounds, and COULD be sorted well before the end of the window. But if you are BFC, with your silence, lack of transparency, I think its fair to say my cynical side is right - dont expect the Butterfield money to be reinvested. And a quick message to those at BFC - some of us will get to know what you are up to regarding this, we always do. I refer you to Shackell-gate and the Robins departure - we knew before the media, we arent as stupid as you would like us to be. I havent, and wont be, renewing my ST. Finances dictate that unfortunately. But chances are that by July/August my financial situation will have improved. So I am going to take this opportunity to assess everything in pre-season before lumping nearly £400 into the coffers of a club without a mouth. As Terry Tibbs would say - "Talk to me.."
I think when he says we won't get the money til August/September he's referring to the fact it'll probably go to a tribunal and therefore the payment will be delayed until after that is sorted. I've heard lots of complaints from small clubs in the past about the exact same thing.
I think him saying that we won't get much for him is pretty disgusting as it totally undermines the club. If I was any club buying him at a tribunal my first argument would now be that even the barnsley manager isn't expecting much money for him.
I understand that pal, but that doesnt stop PC, or whoever, giving KK the expected money upfront, to invest in the squad, UNTIL we get the Jake fee...
Not much that says nothing? we dont know what hes comparing it to. Delph, 6 million for example. We arent going to get much when you. look at that figure. Vazte money was there to spend and will be there to spend in summer. Shackell, 1M good deal for me. he said he didnt want to play for barnsley and we still got a good deal. I think there'll be more to spend in summer than the last for certain.
What makes me angry with transfer fees and BFC is that you just know if Butts played for a 'bigger club' in the championship like Leeds/West Ham they'd get a lot more money for him. How the world of football works though i suppose.
Why should we expect PC to stump up some more cash up front? Firstly, we have no idea how much money to expect and secondly, we shouldn't rely on a generous fan to keep giving money to a failing business. It's not being tight, it's not showing a lack of ambition - it's running a business as it should be. In my honest opinion, signing all of those academy lads on pro deals shows you what out strategy is for next season. I honestly think the likes of Stones, Digby, Rose and Clark will play more football next season. I also think they'll be excellent players. Here's to optimism!
Got to agree we should be bigging up the fee not smirking that it won't be much. I wouldn't sell my house to a prospective buyer by saying its worth a bit but I'm resigned to taking pittance.
really cant see how. No manager change west ham or brum should go up butterfield and vazte money lower contracts for current players.
Which is the total point Phil, we need to keep the spending down, not increase it. The money we bring in through transfers has to supplement the club income, not just be spent on transfers.
It would make my season complete if neither of them went up. Can't wait to see if the gold and Sullivan double act will continue to chuck a million a month at them.
Its got to. How much would the manger change have cost? 500k? 1M people keep saying the accounts look good.
Who says the accounts look good ? We lost a quarter of a million quid to 31.5.2011 - an improvement on the year before but if you think there's suddenly a load of money appeared then you're wrong.
I will be dismayed if we lost money this year though to 31,5,2012 - shackell and Vas Te transfer fees getting rid of some high earners and replacing with lower salaries etc I would hope we actually turned a profit this current year. pleasantly surprised if we only lost 250K last season to be honest
Reduced income through the turnstiles, £1.5mill for Shackell and Vaz Te offset against the incoming players, loan fees etc, at a wild guess I'd say we might be about breaking even. We need a bit more to draw us in on the pitch, and we need a clue from those running the club about commerciality. It's our 125th season in existence apparently soon. Not heard much about it myself...
So if we've only financially improved a quarter of a million on Robin's season, why is everyone w*nking over the great job that Keef has done then, if the costs of his ragbag of loans and signings has wiped out the income we got for the quality players who don't play for us anymore?
Dunno, just guessing like. It's all boll0cks this football lark. I think Dawson's on £25k a week though.
