Today was just an off day? Bad day at the office and all that? Not going to excuse a bad performance but we're not going to be able to perform like on Wednesday every game. The amount of effort put in made it inevitable really. You can't cover up a bad performance but on Wednesday some on here were saying that we've got a great young team and can go far, yet after one, yes just one more game, Johnson doesn't know what he's doing and he's suddenly living off cup performances! Doesn't that sound a bit fickle, or is it just me? One swallow doesn't make a summer; one good performance doesn't mean we're great, but likewise one bad performance doesn't mean we're dreadful
We've had a few off days this season but luckily picked up points in doing so. Today is more the norm than what we saw the other night. Being tired from the other night is a shocking excuse when we are only playing Rochdale and when we've a squad to make changes from. Today was an embarassment and i'm glad I didn't go. We should never lose 3-0 to teams like Rochdale.
Weird how that works. I thought after the Bradford game that few put in a performance that would confirm a start against Everton so they get to play a premiership team on the TV. We kept the same side when there could have been 4-5 changes without any complaints. Those that played today and didn't start the other night should have done more. Nobody can tell me that Wilkinson brings more to the team than the free transfers of Devante Cole and Jabo Ibhere would have.
That post is a feckin disgrace. Arrogance to the nth degree. You do realise Rochdale have been near the top of this division for a year?
I've got ambition for our club and so seeing us getting thrashed by a small team on low crowds with a low budget really hurts.
Don't you think I want us to be successful? No need to be disrespectful to other clubs who while they may be smaller are actually doing better than us recently. I'll remind you of this next time you say something about other clubs doing it to us. You sound like a dee dar.
It doesn't matter how big their crowds are, they finished where they did last season on merit and are a good team. It's not like we've been beaten by Athersley Rec or something
The general ambition of the fanbase has been lowered by too many seasons of underachieving. It's not much more acceptable to be just average. It's either because we've a new manager or players need to gel or too tired or too many loans or something else. There is always an excuse for why we struggle.
We lost to a team with a manager who knows what he's doing. On some days we will win against other teams cos their managers don't know what they're doing. If we're lucky Johnson will learn who to pick, when to pick and what formation. If he doesnt learn we'll struggle again.
Totally agree ponty. Dreamboy - get real and recognise that like life, football has its ups and downs. If you want to see teams winning every week go watch Barcelona. If you're that fickle you're supporting the wrong team.
Sorry, but he's right. None of us want to sound like Wendy fans but it seems as if we've accepted mediocre performances in League 1 as our lot. This is the club that has played more games at Championship level than anyone else. We don't have any reason to accept "mistakes" by a young manager or young players as we didn't have to employ either. Mid table, or worse, in this league is completely unacceptable.
I don't think Ponty72 is saying we should accept mediocre performances at all. I certainly don't and I don't think anyone does. I think his point is Rochdale right now in the league aren't a Mediocre side and are where they are on merit. Just to say they get low crowds so we should beat them is very naive. If we followed this logic Sheff Utd wouldn't have been in this league so long. I'm a realist, we were poor yesterday. But if we view teams with complacency because they are small and we should win, then we better brace ourselves.
I'm not saying I've accepted performances or results like that but I can take one every so often I also don't buy the view that we've not had a good performamce yet in the league. At the end of the day we've won 2, drawn 1. 7 points from 5 games represents an average and unspectacular, but acceptable start
Chesterfield we started well but never started 2nd half and were deservedly beaten S****horpe we played much better and created some clear chances although still a little suspect defensively Burton was a lacklustre performance especially in the first half. 2nd half slightly better. Thought a draw would have been fair Bradford was better than Burton but still lacking a bit of cutting edge. Limited them to little from open play I've not seen us play well for a sustained period of time yet, but as we played well on Wednesday, it's clear we have the ability and with time we will get better and better
Then you are wrong. I just won't stamp my feet and skweem and skweem and skweem because it's not happening right now. Like you.
