Failed miserably, what a joke he's been....bottled it 112 days into the jobhttp://www.skysports.com/story/0,,11727_7219794,00.html
Interesting Forest fan caller on 606 yesterday though, gave a different perspective on it. Said that they were nowhere near as good a team last year as people made out and they are nowehere near as bad a team this year. Said Davies was an incredible manager who masked a lot of underlying issues and these have come to the fore this season. Said McLaren is a good manager struggling to try and resolve these issues and that they have been unlucky in a number of games this season. Not saying I am qualified to give an opinion on a club I know very little about but it was a different view
Yep looking from outside i would agree with that. Had very very little backing and i wouldn't back any manager to do much better than lower mid table with that squad. Apart from Keith Hill maybe.......
it must be nice to quit work after 3 months and say 'sod it' i have had enough.....be nice to have enough in the bank to do it. Which other occupation can you fail miserably and get paid out bigtime ...... even though he has allegedly said he does not want compo. On the other hand whichever plllock set him must need counselling.
The issues have been there from before the first kick of the season. And this is going to be the issue for many clubs and many managers in the next few seasons. He spent a lot of money (wages mainly) on experienced players like Boateng, Greening and Reid. How far are a club who are massively in debt going to keep throwing good money after bad? Very few clubs have a bottomless pit and with banks and HMRC taking harder stances, clubs just have to live within their means and shed the debt. Poor appointment, poor signings and in a spot of bother me thinks.
Considering financial problems Davies did well to get Forest into PLAY offs twice Billy spoke the truth and considering the lack of quality in midfield and pace at the back he did a good job.Forest over achieved massively in last two seasons.
Re: Considering financial problems Davies did well to get Forest into PLAY offs twice Davies did do well, and if he'd have had the backing to strengthen the squad when he needed to then Forest would have gained automatic promotion. At the time they were arguably the best footballing side in the championship. Davies' hands seemed tied. He showed his frustration when he came out with an outburst about those upstairs holding him back. He stated that he needed new players in key areas and was perhaps "two or three players short" to give him his perfect team. At the time, i was thinking the club just did not want promotion. McClaren knew what he was jumping into so he's only got himself to blame.
Re: Considering financial problems Davies did well to get Forest into PLAY offs twice If he had the backing? Didn't Davies make loads of signings? Not the boards fault if he failed to get a proper squad together, I certainly wouldn't say they didn't back him.
Re: Considering financial problems Davies did well to get Forest into PLAY offs twice He made loads of signings and thats part of the issue. They are £60m in debt and the chairman has been bankrolling the club. The gravy train is coming to an end.
