How does this guy keep getting jobs? Spent a fortune at Derby & didn't even make the playoffs & has now got the Newcastle job. I give him 6 months at best. Bottom 6 around Christmas & another appointment. Quite clear Pardew worked miracles there. Carver definitely wasn't the right man for the job, but I wouldn't leave McClaren to look after my dog for a couple of hours....
I'm not a massive fan. He's a top Championship manager with abilities of getting a team into that top flight but honestly don't think he could handle it at Newcastle. Wouldn't be surprised if they're struggling after a few months and he does leave.
I find it even stranger that he is also on the board of directors! I probably think this is to ease the fans frustration. Especially with Ashley stepping down from the board!
Yes, and the chief scout & club ambassador! Fairly sure Ashley will still be pulling the strings though...
REALLY? He did well at Boro, with a chairman who pumped lots of money in... England - Disaster FC Twente - Success Wolfsberg - Failure Forest - Disaster Derby - Failure a

Yes really. Don't see Derby as a failure at all. There's very few managers that succeed at every club. And wasn't he at forest for a few months?
Not including his second spell at Twente of which was a failure. In all fairness, I thought he did well at Derby considering the rut they were in under Nigel Clough, especially last season when they reached the play off final.
well he is still the owner and is entitled to pull any strings he wants…. while slipping out of public view! i work in Warsop (near Mansfield) and Ashley comes in the wine bar a few doors down from my shop, he is your typical flash and brash bloke, always buys a huge round and thinks everyone knows him and he knows everyone
