He had a relatively poor season last year after a promising first one. But he's obviously rated by the management team who worked miracles in the second half of last season. He should be supported like any other player at the club. He appears to me to be as likely to have a good season as a poor one. He might not necessarily be first choice but he'll doubtless get game time. McNumpty seems a harsh and disrespectful moniker to give him. Can he not be referred to as McNulty? Just a thought
Er, no. I started a thread with that word. The point of the thread was to state he shouldn't be called that. I reckon you saw the title of the thread and got on your high horse, deciding you were going to have a go. I assume we agree that he should not be referred to by that by anyone professing to be a fan of the club?
Just a thought , but if you go on ANY football forum, there are players that are given ***** nicknames, BFC are no different to ANY other club anywhere in the world!!! It seems to be a great past time on here to slag fellow BFC fans and it just gets boring after 45 years !.
To illustrate the point. To show how ridiculously childish it looks on screen. To draw in those who refer to him as that and, although probably futile, attempt to get them to drop the immaturity (which I will likely have been just as guilty of myself at some point, I'm sure ill have referred to him as mcnumpty at some point). To attract people who have mentioned the nickname being stupid to try and stop the habit. Any of the above.
There's no doubt I'm an arsehole to be fair! Cast iron facts can't be disputed. Might have been a bit misguided to name the thread what I did but I don't think the sentiment behind it was missed. And other clubs having nicknames for players doesn't make it right for us to refer to a player by a name which will quite possibly put additional pressure on a player to try and change fan opinion. He will know about the name without doubt. I suppose he could view it as an affectionate nickname. I doubt it, but its possible.
I agree, but why use it to kick off a thread? There are no high horses here mate and that's not me having a go, by any means. 500 people will see that before the end of the day, most won't look beyond that heading and will associate that with your username. I know you mean well, but you've done more to promote that insult, than anyone using it with malice within a thread. I agree with your point, but not the way you went about it. It's clearly missed, otherwise we wouldn't be having this discussion.
I've never referred to the lad as McNumpty, as quite frankly, as a 36 year old man, I'd feel a bit of a berk using such a crap 'nickname' for another grown man. In the same way that I find it odd when grown men walk around in football shirts with the names of other grown men emblazoned across their shoulders. However, I don't agree with this McNulty had a good first season point of view. He's always been a liability in my opinion and remains so. I hope he has a stormer this season, but if someone starts a thread about a player then I and many others are entitled to give their opinion also. Whether that be a positive or a negative view of the player. 'First world problems' every day on the BBS...
If he just chose to hoof the ball up field rather than pissing about with it in his own box putting mass pressure on all the players then maybe, just maybe he might not be bad cover if all our other CBs are out.
I dont understand the people who say he had a bad season last year. He was injured for the majority of it.
The abuse he gets on here translates to the stands and has a negative effect on his performances. It's not helpful.
