Played a vital part in our good performances last season and was instrumental in securing promotion from that dreary pub league to something that could launch us back into some decent football.

In short, McPhail has very much contributed to Barnsley's future. We paid him, he delivered, the contract has finished, and like every one of us that looks after our own future and wants to progress, he has made his choice to move on.

The lad owes us nothing - we, perhaps owe him respect.

The last thing he deserves is abuse.

I've got a stamp here somewhere...

please write on it all of what you know about modern sport. Any sport will do.

If, as I suspect, you're a tad challenged in the writing department, then draw me a basic picture. Use a pencil, no crayons.

    Let me get this right

Becuase someone has a different opinion to you, they obviously know very little about modern sport, so little in fact they have to use crayons?

I'm split on the McPhail debate, only performed for 3 months out of 24, and only stayed last season due to noone coming in for him.

Coming through what we came through last season, i think he owed it to the other Barnsley players to stay and have a real good go at staying in the championship.

Especially when he left us for Cardiff.

    Well said that man

Perhaps if we, the fans, had shown McPhail a bit of loyalty [especially in the early days] instead of the constant slagging he got, then perhaps he and Chops might be playing for us instead of Cardiff.

Loyalty is a two way thing .... something this clubs fans are not good at I'm sad to say.

P.S. Before someone says it ... I think loyalty should run deeper than attendance, it ought to extend to patience and support.

No no Loko lad, please do get it right....

... he's perfectly entitled to his opinion the same as I am mine. But whilst modern sport is a professional affair you have to understand that the same rules apply to sportsmen and women the same as they do to the rest of us. If we would rather work eleswhere then that's our right, whether McPhail's judgement is right or wrong only time will tell. The days of the Corinthian sportsman are long gone (which is a shame for sure), and remember, it wasn't so long ago that players were payed next to F all and were generally shat upon by unscrupulous club chairmen and owners.
Loyalty and genuine passion for any club is really down to football's apprentices and trainees where they have been given a chance to get their careers going, if that even. Once they've moved on and up then it's down to hard cash and business.

Probably middle of the upper quartile for Division 1 and mid lower decile for the premiership.
    Premiership = Exorbitant salaries
    Div 1 = A good living.

    Statistical analysis would show

that for the level of effort over the two years, the payment was exorbitant.

Did you manage to get the emoticons up all by yourself or did the nurse help?

Does your salary drop any when your off work? Or do you expect to be treated the same as the rest of the population?

    Very well said

My thoughts were all of disappointment to lose him rather than anger, or questioning his loyalty. I still hope they go down tho for Riddy's sake [IMG]

    Au Contraire.

In my opinion his arrogant statement, before the streamers had settled, that we'd need five more players for him to stay and us to survive deserves nothing but contempt.

    **** off McPhrail.

    **** off thee.

You could write what you know about sport on your knob with a bingo dabber and I hope we sign Morgan and he knocks McPhail's neck in and puts him in the stand the tw@. And while we're at it I hope Ridsdale bankrupts the club and Skankin' Sam sells them to Guernsey or summat and I hope the RSoul crew stop off in Darton and get eyes kicked out by a bunch of lasses.
