Possibly for us but was outstanding in his early career , not the same after a few bad injuries

Think he gets an hard time of it because of his Leeds background. For all his injuries he still played around 79 times for us in two seasons which is a good record. Captained to promotion a group of lads (in my opinion) that were nowhere near as good as those that got us promoted last season out of the same divsion. A guy with his pedigree on a free transfer turned out to be a bargain.

    Good luck to him.

Paul Reid captained us on the day but McPhail captained us alot in his two years also. Like for like starting positions of both promotion teams and outside of Mcphail partnering Hourihane it would be a struggle to find a space for anyone else from that team. Great team effort to get promoted but after the run we went on last season I always felt much more comfortable that we'd go up this time around.

Technically superb, wand of a left peg. There was one instance in the playoff final where under pressure and about to trap a high ball, he brought it out of the sky perfectly, one shimmy, a back-heel and he beat two Swansea players and just strolled forward before pinging a diagonal ball right onto Devaney's toes. It was summat else. The fact I still remember it says a lot.

Remember him coming back with Wednesday and getting booed and lighters thrown at him when he took corners. Never understood that. A very good player for us. Not in the Redders, Howard, Hignett, Hourihane bracket. But good nonetheless.

    Agree with thee Whitey.

Was a class act. A player we missed badly, but he went for the money at the time.
We had a kid called Butterfield coming through I believe??

McPhail had a battle with the big C & I'll respect the bloke misen.

Class act. Gutted when he left, I suspect most were and that's why he got so much stick.

Best left foot I've ever seen.

Also worst right foot. Not sure what it was there for. He could have had it cut off and played on crutches and still been no worse.

Don't know why anyone would have a bad word for him. Enjoyed watching him and was a big part of our promotion team

His pace let him down but when he had ball on his left foot he was class.

I liked him and wished himself and Chopra would have signed for us after promotion in 2008.
