Can anyone explain to me why the hell we are now showing compassion to a man with a string of crimes to his name? Armed robbery, assault, escaping prison,

The justice system in this country is a joke.

Yep. He evaded justice and lived the life of reilly for years. The fact he has cancer is irrelevant really. If you can't do the time......

Isn't prison meant to be there to punish criminals?

The fact that he isn't likely to go out and steal a few million again should have nothing to do with the decision because he wasn't locked up to stop him being able to do it again, he was locked up as punishment for the crime he commited

I'm shocked that you're not all for letting him loose, saves your cash keeping the old guy in prison after all....

Lets be honest here, he ain't gonna go holding no more trains, or any other thing up in his condition is he now!

Chuffed personally they freed the guy....

He'll probably be dead before the end of the month and he's served a greater percentage of his sentence than the average murderer does. How many folk get life but are out in 10-12 yrs?
He's done his time and then some because of Jack Straw.

Eh? You do realise how long he's been locked up for don't you?

He's still got 20 years of his original sentance left to serve and what about the crime of escaping prison? Not one day has been added on for that. Sorry but this 'man' has not served his time, not even close

    He's in prison as punishment

And he has not been punished at all for escaping prison.

The 30 year sentence he was given was grossly disroportionate to the crime. Today courts he'd have got 15-18 yrs max. Out in under 10.

FFS the mans coming to the end of his life, a bit of compassion is in order in this instance i would have thought....

If he'd a been a younger bloke i would have agreed with you....He didn't kill anyone after all....
