The Lakes aren't all they're cracked up to be, IMHO.

Full of big folks wi hiking boots and sweaty kagools, and it always pisses it down. Why do they have ski sticks when there's no snow? Tramp through t'mud for ten and a half hours, come back to their B & B, drink three pints of Thrumpton's Old Arsesplitter and retire to bed till it's time for their Full English in t'morning, when it'll be pissing it down ageean. Fascinating!

    I'd stop near Malvern.

To be fair mate it's not nailed that we are going to the lakes, I'd actually look at other places if they are in a couple hours drive,

I can't help but feel embarrassed when I'm out for a walk after work in jeans and shoes and I pass people in hiking gear. They always seem blissfully ignorant, though.
