Can tell you worked down the pit! Remember my dad having broken his collarbone at work saying he got hit by a "lump of coal" and then we later discovered that said "lump" (which to me was a piece that went onto the fire) was the size of small planet!
RE: Can tell you worked down the pit! There was a bloke down Newmillerdam got pinned by a lump. It had wedged in the sides as it dropped so it just got to where it compressed his ribs. He was breathing really fast and shallow but you could see he wasn't getting enough oxygen. Strange but I faound it harder to look at that than if he'd been cut in two.
