Nottingham Forest manager Gary Megson was clearly disappointed with his sides 2-0 defeat at Barnsley.

He said: "We were nowhere near good enough today and we got the result we deserved because of the way we played.

"Only a few players played like I would expect but I fully accept the responsibility, the way we played is just not acceptable."

Of the week's preparation for the game he said: "We worked during the week on our defending being a lot tighter but that wasn't apparent. We shouldn't be conceding goals with three centre halves.

"We worked on passing down the side but what we did was lump the ball into the last third.

"We have chopped and changed players in different positions and different formations but nothing is happening.

"There isn't one fundamental problem, there are a lot of things wrong, a lot of things I expect to be better that blatantly are not."

The travelling Forest supporters were verbal in their response and Megson said: "That was one of the longest walks of my life past the supporters on my way down the tunnel.

" As much as they dislike me I think the supporters are marvellous the way they turn out and they don't deserve that sort of play."

Finally, of his future at Nottingham Forest Megson added: "I love the football club and l like being in charge of a club where we can put 20,000 plus fans in the seats.

"But I will sit down with the people at the club who make the decisions and if they think that it is all down to Gary Megson then we have a decision to make."

    Their fans were superb

unfortunately for them, the team isn't delivering.

We've seen their sort of decline somewhere before and we know that recovery isn't quick.

If things continue they might even miss out on their most local derby next season.
