To publicly show player we want him and a firm speedy response to say not for sale. I like the speed and firmness of the response. Seen us say really soft things that have invited bids. If he does go, we should get a decent amount rather than just coinage but I'd hope flitcroft has such a strong bond with players that they'll trust him a little with their careers, especially if we can show we will let them go at a time that's good for them and good for the club
What worries me is that he's only got a year left on his contract. I can't see us getting more than the £600k we've been offered so if I was the club, I'd be looking to extend his contract sooner rather than later.
Speed of response is good mate, and a sign of the new regime perhaps ? Sadly, Mellis' contract was probably penned by the old regime. Would be nice to see him have a groundbreaking season for us but I fear it might not be. People in the game talk, and I think Palace will have based their opening gambit on something they know, but we don't ! I would have said he was worth £1.5 - £2m but after some of the Championship sales this summer best make that £35m ! ! !
A season in a free role in a 352 could be couple of million. Out left midfield, isolated, free transfer
The club has done the right thing. In previous years it has been criticised for not responding publicly on such matters. New era, Mansford doing the right thing, behaving like a proper club who won't just rollover to the first waft of money
How do we know anyone from the club has even said anything..."a club spokesman", why wouldn't the article just say the name of the person? Papers/the internet is 90% b0ll0cks
