Mellis was by far the standout performer on the pitch today at Oakwell. He needs to be put in as a pivitol part of the team like today
Playing furthest forward in the midfield.

which is why i think 3-5-2 is the way to go. switch to 4 in the middle, changes the whole balance

He was brilliant. The trouble is, you can't fit Jennings in while playing Mellis in his most effective position in a 3-5-2. The only other option might be to play Jennings up front beside O'Grady with Mellis in behind.

I just hope we havent bought jennings because they know Mellis will be off in January or earlier.

Watch the highlights - Mellis just oozes class. Premiership written all over him. Was a key part in both goals yesterday and hes gonna be a massive player for us. I'd be trying to get him on a new contract sharpish!

That's the only option I can see, but obv Jennings has a way to go, before he can oust daggers as second striker. More so if another striker comes in. Which leaves daws, diggers, RNL and job all fighting for a shirt. Going to be very interesting to see how flicker manages the squad

If Mellis is played as an advanced playmaker/'in the hole' next season, then he is not only going to create goals, but he will also score goals.

Flicker said that he has been working with Mellis in training (with regards to him 'playing in the hole', trying to get the ball to him as much as possible etc) and I think this showed against Wolves. Outstanding.

Central midfield is our strongest area. Etuhu, Perkins, Mellis, Dawson, Digby.

When we play 4-4-2, Flicker plays 4 central midfielders with Mellis and Dawson shoehorned out wide. When we play 3-5-2, it enables us to play 3 central midfielders but all in their natural positions. Mellis even more so, who IMO could be a key player if played as an advanced playmaker (central) in front of Perkins/Etuhu.

    Good to have options.

4-5-1 with Jennings wide left, Mellis AMC and another wide-player on the right, with O'Grady CF.
3-5-2 with Mellis 'in the hole' - O'Grady & another upfront.
    4-4-2

3 systems we can use fairly effectively.

Be interesting to see what formation is played. If Flicker goes with a 4-4-2, Dawson and Perkins have got to be in there. Mellis blatantly has the quality but he drifts in and out of the game too much. If he plays like we know he can, Wolves at home last season for example, he is our main man but I don't see it enough. A 3-5-2 would be the better option but the way Digby is coming on, it's going to be class.

It must be our strongest squad for years , we have quality and quantity in most positions, looking forward to the Wigan game now
