Now firstly, I accept he would be one of the few current players who could a) command a decent transfer fee and b) achieve something in the future elsewhere.... But.... He doesn't half frustrate me, there's obviously talent there, but he spends huge amounts of the match (as seen again today) letting the game pass him by; avoiding getting involved; not showing with any enthusiasm for the ball and throwing his hands in the air at teammates when he messes up. I personally think he's playing out his contract but he should think on, he could be so much better. It looks like he needs an arm around the shoulder from Danny. A big problem with this season is a lack of supply from midfield and when our main creative player goes missing regularly it doesn't help.
Frustrating... but at least he gives is some quality going forward. I shudder to imagine our midfield without him or indeed McCourt's inconsistent yet encouraging contributions. I think Mellis will develop into a really top player, just maybe not with us.
Thought mellis dropped too deep to try and get ball today , but thought he was best of a bad lot today
It's a team sport so even if you have one or two quality players they still end up looking as bad as anyone else. Still unsure about Mellis, he doesn't actually seem as good as when we had him on loan as a bairn.
