Ah, Molineux. I remember it well. It was my first away match as a Barnsley fan, and I enjoyed every minute of it. It's a great stadium and me and my mum used to love going there to see the Reds when I was younger. The first match I went to ended in a draw. I can't remember too much about it, but all I do rememember was Andy Payton volleying home from 18 yards to bring the scores level at 2-2 with about 10 minutes left. I remember that vividly. The second time I went to Molineux ended in a 3-3 draw. Wolves took the lead through Don Goodman, despite some calls for offside but the Reds stormed back and by half time we were 3-1 up thanks to goals from Neil Redfearn, Arjan De Zeeuw and I think Nicky Eaden, but I can't be sure on that one. Sure enough, us being us, we ended up drawing 3-3 when two 'soft' goals drifted over David Watson and Steve Bull and Iwan Roberts got there names on the scoresheet. Great game though. Sadly, I can't see us getting much on Saturday, but you never know. What are your memories of Molineux? UP THE REDS!!!
Last season Watching the evil b@stards looking for any Barnsley fan to smack, outside the ground, in the town, everywhere. Luckily we were on the ball and avoided the main thrust of it- well nearly all of us. Mad Gerry decided to go walkabout on the way back to the station and ended up stood right next to a trapped service bus during a mini riot, just as some Wolves mong was trying to see how many bricks it took to break the window. And thats why I'm not going tomorrow. Well, kind of
A couple of days fter that second match.... </p> ...somebody came to stand at the side of me at the urinal and said, "Eyup mate, are thy a Wolves player?" "No," says I, "Why?" He says, "Cos tha looks like one."</p>
Oh aye Passed Steve Bull when we eventually got out of the car park. Didn't pillock him. Much. Took it well an'all considering. </p> That 3-3 game - had the misfortune to be sat bang next to that netting they put down the seats to seperate the fans - had a few of Wolves main brain donors trying to get over it at us whilst the stewards watched. </p>
Last year Nyatanga left Collins on a set piece for the only goal of the game, very uneventful, dont think we mustered a shot on target, De Silva twisted his knee and ended his season. Away seating is at the side of the ground, I say seating, cos the pissed minority that follow us away spent majority of the game arguing with the stewards and refusing to sit down. And someone got run over by a bus in the town centre. And I didnt keep my ticket stub.
RE: Last year Da Silva crocked at Norwich away I seem to recall. And that bus could have been the same one we nearly ran into, or ran into us. Whichever, it was ******* not the place to be.
Loads of memories I used to live 250 yards from there when I was a tax dodger at the (then) Polytechnic 1984-1987. I remember having a room full of mates in the Halls for the weekend when we played down there in 1984/85 season, we won 1-0 but it were a ***** game. They went down that season, and the next! Was there for the 5-0. Stancliffe - comedy moment of the decade!
Last year - a 'no police' game ............... ...... ha ha, whichever brain dead numpty believed that ANY Wolves game could be managed by stewards only wants the sack - absolute dangerous bedlam after the match, dark, cold and hundreds of their lot on the rampage - well done West Midlands Police - hope you have learnt your lesson before tomorrow
First time i went we drew 0-0, Martin Bullock was brilliant that day ran them ragged but just couldn't finish. They missed a last minute penalty, Watson saved it i remember some of there fans running back into the ground when they heard they had a pen only to sulk back out.
RE: Anyone go when we won 5-0? One of my earliest football memories. I think we got 'performance of the week' on one of the review programmes, probably Saint and Greavsie or summat similar. At that age I figured all away games were that easy....
RE: Last year you're right, my memory is cack, I was in a boozer on the corner of the junction where the bus was stuck, rozzers everywhere, didnt seen any battling, remember it being very cold, was round Brum for a night out, did alreight in the Aussie bar as it happens.
RE: Last year De Silva did his knee at Norwich. Stan scored a perfectly good goal for us only to be ruled offside by that lineswoman, Amy Rayner.
Thats right now you mention it, I think the goal replay was watched back and at half time McCarthy admitted to Davey that it wasnt offside or didnt go over the line or summat like that. Maybe the luck will even itself out on Sat.
Brilliant game that The penalty was given for the ball hitting Malcom Shotton on the back and then the ref sent Danny Wilson off for protesting the decision. Watson saved it and then Bullock waltzed through the entire Wolves team only to see his shot saved. Probably the best 0-0 I've ever seen.
