This season's fixtures reminded me of the time we played them at Oakwell first off in 79/80..... I've never felt as gutted as that day! We'd just won promotion, and they'd just avoided relegation, the previous season and i was expecting far more than what we got that day. That memory is like a knife in my throat. The only decent part of the day was programme seller Hall, who disappeared to Blackpool with his takings, apparently.

Mind you; the return fixture at Swillsborough was brilliant! :D

Alan Little playing at centre half alongside Mick McCarthy

Because of the injury picked up by Norman Hunter in the League Cup tie with Lincoln City and Alan Dugdale's loan signing not being completed in time.

We had some great defenders in those days

Macker, Alan and Norman. Probably the hardest men to ever put on a Barnsley shirt.

I remeber that match lost 3-0, Terry Curran tore us to bits, but...

We were stood near the corner flag in the Ponty end next to the main stand, the area round us was fairly sparsely populated till half time when it suddenly filled up. And then as if by some signal, all hell broke loose with fighting all round us. Luckily we managed to avoid getting involved. Anyone else stood there and remember what happened?

    That was when

you could walk from the Brewery stand to the Ponty. I remember one windy day when all of a sudden a massive cloud of dust blew up from the back of the ponty. Then thousands of Barnsley fans came from the back towards the Cop corner. A reit atmosphere!

    Yes, it was August 1979

I think the fences went up about 1982/1
