Ok we're getting lots of questions/confusion about free Charlton coach hope this will cover them- The free coach travel is open to everyone regardless of if you were originally booked on the official coach for either of the 2 previously arranged dates. It doesn't matter if you never intended to go to the original dates you can still buy match tickets now and get free travel, we've got tickets on sale in the box office. It doesn't matter if you've never been on the official club coach before to any game, you can still get free coach to Charlton. Basically there's NO CATCHES! All we ask is that you already have or now purchase from us match tickets as we won't issue free coach tickets without you also having tickets as this is unfair (basically it's people trying to save a free seat). We have a strict NO ALCOHOL policy and all children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult (18+ years). Hope this covers everything
I'm super, super tempted as it is during the school hols, and only the cost of the ticket now. Two main worries. 1) I'd have no-one to go with 2) Away matches scare me incase there's any trouble.
I used to live near the Charlton ground one of the friendliest grounds in the league with good long suffering fans like us. There won't be any trouble (unless the flare miles sneak in).
It's a great gesture, although personally I just can't do coaches, not sure what it is about them* but I only ever drive or go by train these days. *could be mixing with the general public for an extended period of time that does it.
Last time I went with club was Yeovil 2006. The no alcohol for 10 hours alongside the characters on the bus pushed me to breaking point by the time we hit the return leg service station. Almost broke down
#2 is nothing to worry about, plenty of plod around the coaches The first one I can't help you with I'm on the train. Get her sen off, the beauty off being a football fan you've got things on common with everyone your with so you'll get talking to people
Don't let going on your own bother you. As it happens, I think I am - I'm meeting up with a Charlton friend before the match then sitting on my own. It's rare you see any trouble, especially if you go on club buses as they drop you off more or less next to the away end.
NO ALCOHOL!!!!!! WTF!!! Not been with the club since about 1993....am sure a sneaky flask of tea (brandy & Lemonade) won't raise any suspicions. Do you still have to sit in silence all the way there??
Another one for me is official coaches don't always have a toilet on them, but pub coaches for the drinkers always make sure of it. On the official coach to Man City we'd barely reached the motorway before the driver had to stop at the side of the road for some pre coach drinkers. Newcastle away for our thrashing was the worst. Three hours with no toilet on. Parked at service station ready for the police escort but none of us allowed off even for five minutes for a quick pit stop.
Guessing you never go on nights out in Leeds then? More chance of trouble there than an away match on Club coaches. Can pretty much guarantee there won't be any trouble at Charlton, especially on the club coaches. You've nothing to worry about trouble-wise so if you can make it i'd go
