Personally, I think he is getting short changed considering Wooney is getting 300k. Fook me.... Life must be hard Hth
This is a prime example why my love for the beautiful game is diminishing...admittedly he is probably 1 of the greatest players to grace a football field but 320k a week is a utter **** take
Out of 7 billion people he is the best at what he does. Bankers, businessmen, actors, musicians. The best in the world are paid the money. The problem with football is the average are rewarded more than they should.
However you spin it £320k per week is obscene for playing football even if you are the best in the world.
I have no problem with him earning that much. Football is performance related and they don't come much better than Messi. 16 million is only a fraction of the money he generates for the sport. He is still a pauper compaired to the Royal Family who do sod all to earn there keep.
In the main footballers are vastly overpaid for what they do which in reality is very little. They get rewarded handsomely regardless of how they play from week to week and while I agree that Messi is the best player in the world so should be the highest paid player in the world he should not be earning anywhere near £320k per week. Finances in football are all relative, the money has to come from somewhere and the fans are the ones fleeced and bled dry to put into the pot that these multi millionaires take their money from. I would argue that the highest paid player in the world should earning this kind of money in a year and even then they would be paid disproportionately to what they actually do. They play football and that's it.
He kicks a ball round, albeit better than anyone else, of course he's not worth that much which is more in a week than the Spanish PM gets in a year or your average nurse in 15/20 years. Truly obscene. Reminds me of why I'm falling out of love with football. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Whilst agreeing with your every word, the fact is that there are millions of fans around the world who are willing to pay extortionate prices for match tickets, season tickets, memorabilia etc. They then add an another £50 per month for a Sky subscription. It's their free choice, but while ever people are prepared to pay, the players will still get the majority of the money. Nothing will change until the fans stay away and cancel their Sky subs. I've had enough of it, not paying next season, odd match if that.
