And he was laughing at Barnsley because once again we finished just outside the rello places, below Sheffield Wednesday and all that after signing 196 players.

He said we should cherish Kim Christiansen and Miguel Mostto. And Kayode. But if the fans turned up in greater numbers next year we could sign another half dozen strikers to see if one was any good.

It's been a long hard season though.

    'work in progress'.

It makes me laugh all this clamour to claim that after spending money the likes of which we haven't seen in many a season that 4 points of relegation is a success. It's a tad more realistic and less patronising to fans to suggest that okay, a lot of new players have been brought in and with the best will in the world not all them are going to hit the mark. Davey's buiding what we hope will be a stronger squad in the long run and also he himself is learning. That being so, lets take a long term view for once and hope that next year and subsequent years we build gradually until we are in a position to challenge for a top 6 spot. We don't have the team or the manager at the moment imho to do that. We may, given time though.

Davey himself said that some of his signings will be better next year (Souza, Van Homo, Leon ?) after a season's experience in The Championship. It's only fair and reasonable then to give him the time to develop these players and see if he can address our striker issues, and see how he sets the team up next year and how he copes with making changes during games, because this season at times that aspect of our performances has been crap.

3 places better off than last season

    more points, thats "improvement"

you aren't going to get miracles, the financial gap is too wide and lets face it, what quality players (which we would need to push for promotion) would want to come to South Yorkshire on less than 5k a week.

    14 players signed

and a drop in attendances. The club has pushed the boat out with ticket prices to address this, lets see if Barnsley can 'support' a Championship club first before we start deciding what a realistic target is. If they dont turn up, we'll be shopping at Netto again and Davey will have to find a 20 goal a season striker for ten bob.

Also how the defence is sorted now we`ve only let in 65 goals compared to 85 the previous season. Yeh right and as for time to gel the more they were together the worse they became.

    Exactly

14 players signed. And minimal improvement.

Fans (lack of) is a seperate issue to how the manager's done this season. Crowd numbers are crap, granted.

That promotion was a fluke and he had millions to spend but didn't want to,but his biggest mistake was not mastering Powerpoint and useing a white board the key to success in the modern game...........and he didn't like Jaffa cakes...what a loser

    Put our best 11 out

for the majority of games, and we'd be top half. Take the best 2 players out of a top 6 side for half a season and see where they end up. We shouldve finished 12th or higher, but regardless of how many times its been said, its still true, we took our eye off the ball for 6 or 7 games whilst we dreamed of winning the Cup. And would you swap 5 places up the league for beating Liverpool, Chelsea and going to Wembley?

Quality not quantity is the message for the summer. Lets hope he's got a decent budget to work with.

Luckily, we won't need to buy a striker, we'll just transfer Nardiello back in.

    Sir Alex rated him highly

and he's an ex Man Utd player....or are you waiting to see who wins the Premiership and Champions League before you decide who to support next season

    Bacon banjos all round

in League 2. My season ticket will cost £280 this year after my True Red discount. It'll be crowded up the top deck when the West Stand gimmers get moved. Enjoy.

You're still putting the cart before the horse mate.

You improve your product toincrease your sales. It's not going to happenthe other way round.

And the potential support aren't interested in how many players he's signed, they're interested in how good they are and what he can do with them. Unfortunately.

    The draw away at Charlton

put us 4th in the Championship table. The following home game against Burnley saw a massive 11,560 pack themselves into Oakwell. The famous win over Chelsea, beamed around the world and watched by millions drew a huge 11,333 in for the following home game against Ipswich.

What product is it we're selling again?
