Premiership quality finishing with all 3 of his goals - absolute belters each one as good as Rooney's 2nd against Pompey. Just like we were getting used to seeing before he was taken from us! At least he's got it out of his system before friday night (HOPEFULLY!)
If they hadn't done it yesterday they'd have done it against us - we seem to have a knack over the years of kick starting other teams seasons.
mmm , you are probably right i fancy us to get something from it though - i reckon we might get all 3 points for some reason. i think its called blind optimism actually
I'm glad somebody is! Don't see it myself....they managed to move their midweek game to yesterday whereas we are playing on Tuesday (Shame that QPR's replay was too late for a rearrangement of the fixture) 3 points on Tuesday is more important than anything against Cardiff.
yep thats true, didn't realise they managed to move their fixture - not exactly fair really! qpr game is huge, if we win i think it can give us the impetus to move out of the zone - most importantly it will push qpr/luton into the relegation zone . paul d would be able to give us a conclusive answer but i am sure it is much more difficult for a team to be pushed into the scrap than a team who has been there all year if you see what i mean.
Yes I see what you mean, maybe not as much at this stage of the season but if a team slips into it in the last couple of months when they thought they were comfortable. QPR game is very important and that, coupled with Leeds playing Hull, could give us quite a boost.
He would have been a safe buy (even as an investment) Cardiff would get their money back and then some if they decided to sell.
RE: He would have been a safe buy (even as an investment) They could make £3 million profit.but thats Barnsley for you
RE: i agree the board should have done anything to sign him. even if it'd have cost us £750k. we'd have made our money back and we'd be midtable and McPhail would have stayed too probably. an his value has probably increased to close to th £1m mark. you have to spend money to make money.
RE: i agree the board should have done anything to sign him. Had we signed him we could have been mid table now with bigger crowds and a better chance of attracting new players.
Do you really think he'd have come to Barnsley over Cardiff? Can't see it myself. Not unless we were offering silly money and even then he'd have probably had the sense to look at the long term. We've not exactly been a regular springboard to success, have we? Much as I'd like him to be at Barnsley I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we'd have got him.
yawn yawn yawn The whole subject is tedious. no doubt had we offered greater wages and a higher transfer fee to newcastle h ewould have been here. However we did not. Had we blown our budget on him what if he had broken his leg after 2 games??
I'm not suggesting we should have done anything of the sort I don't agree we could have got him but we didn't try anyway so it makes no odds. I do agree therefore that it's tedious to keep going on about it. Which is why I was trying to suggest that it's pointless speculating how much he'd be worth to us now. I think we're both arguing for an end to the "what-if"s.
Better turn the commentary off on Friday No doubt it'll be one of the few topics of conversation the commentators can be bothered to research about little Barnsley. It's on over here so I'll be off down the boozer Fridsay night to watch it. This week's going to drag on for ages.
