Top bloke for a pig. Greatest England captain of all time and he's nothing to prove to anyone by continuing. Time for him to enjoy life away from cricket and rest up that knackered knee instead of risking becoming a cripple in later life.

Greatest England Captain of all time?????

Brian Close & played, 6 won, one draw, and no sporting defeats (that upset the MCC). Mike Brearley, C.B. Fry etc. were more successful captains.

Vaughan had the highest number of wins - 26.

So not a bad captain at all, esp in the modern era. Won six successive series too. No mean feat.

Shouldn't have resigned as England captain. Downhill fast from there it seems. He was a great captain, one of the best we have had. Proud that he is from Yorkshire. Good luck MV.
