http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/29400/? Good luck to the lad. Way down the pecking order here. Hope his career finally takes off.
I think if he can continue his development, he could be a stalwart of big micks defence for years to come. Good luck Diggers, shame your potential was never realised down at the well!
I'm assuming he'll be one of the higher earners here. I know it sounds daft, but his last contract was a Championship one back when he was seen as the next big thing. He'd just starred in the friendlies with Brugge and Bordeaux. So I think you're reight. Let them take him off us, nominal fee initially with potential fees if certain appearance goals are met and of course, a chunky perecentage of any future transfer away from Ipswich.
McCarthy says the 21-year-old, who has another season left on his contract at Oakwell but with the proposed terms of a free transfer agreed when he signed on loan, has made great strides since moving to Suffolk.
I think its best for the lads career that he moves on. Its disappointing that things haven't worked out for him at Oakwell(nothing makes me prouder that seeing an academy graduate playing for the first team), but if he stayed here treading water, i think he would drop out of the game altogether, which would be a real shame.
Aren't we at least entitled to compo with him being under 22, or does that not apply if he's under contract? Sent from my I-Oven using the internets
We clearly don't have the inclination or coaching staff to bring him on. Good luck to him ...talking to a guy other day and he was saying that in Germany the big difference is versus over here they work longer and harder on their young uns and its one of the reasons their national team are so good. He reckoned we easy bin them off over here....too early.
A lad couldn't get into a diabolical league one side but is highly valued by a team chasing promotion to the Premiership. That makes sense.
If he's out of contract and we offered a new deal which he turned down to move elsewhere, then we'd be entitled to compo.
Tbh...I only wish the lad well , if Mick thinks he can see a prospect there then we should let Diggers go without a problem. A very promising young lad, who for me had it wrecked by his knee injury..he doesn't look like he'll play for us again , personally I can't see where he would fit in , if McCarthy can give the lad his career back we should just welcome it. I always think if that were my own son..what would be the right thing to do?
If he was out of contract in the summer and has turned down a new deal with his club, whoever signs him would have to pay a tribunal.
Ta. Just to help you, I've posted a link of the League one table just before Digby moved. http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-one/2015-2016/table/2016-01-02
