We can only hope that he won't be doing much assisting I wonder whether Wilson chose to keep him or if he was told that for financial reasons he had no choice
Board have respect for Mellon and wanted Danny to work with him. Good thing, it getS Wilson up to speed
Cant think of anyone better to be Wilsons number 2.He knows the players inside out,he'll have knowledge that Danny will need in the next few weeks and he's well respected by the players. As he said last week he gave his views to DF but ultimately the manager made the decisions.I'm sure that will continue. If things don't work out I'm sure Danny will bring in his own men.
Agreed. He's obviously a decent coach, as we all know he did well at Fleetwood and he had something to do with the performances at the back end of last year and indeed they didn't win at Brighton by accident. Probably like Flicker he was lacking in the tactical knowhow at this level and that's what Danny is bringing. If Micky's happy to go back to being an assistant then fair play to him and I think you have to be trying very hard to find something to moan about to see that as a negative.
Clearly the BFC Board do rate the like of Mellon and Heckingbottom, so it's no real surprise that the stay on. Having a degree of continuity is good and it sounds very much like Wilson is happy with it. If it doesn't work in the short-term, I'm sure Ben Mansford will know about it and act.
A bit of both, I imagine. The club has probably got the best of both worlds with this appointment. Don't forget, they chose to keep Mellon when he had chance of a manager's job elsewhere a couple of months ago. They could have got rid of him for nothing..,
