I'd give him a chance, he's got a decent record as a manager but I don't make the decisions and I don't think he'll get the job.
If we struggled to get any interest from a decent candidate, like last time, and we followed the same path of promote the assistant, then I wouldn't hate it. unlike Flicker, Mellon has actually been a manager previously, and done a very good job. I'd hate some of the other names being mentioned a lot more.
I don't think he'll get the job either, but the boards decision to keep him after getting shut of the rest says something.Last season I had a few games watching from the west stand(instead of row gg in the ponty) and mickey mellon was very vocal, especially with regard to our defenders getting forwards quicker, this season that hasn't happened, probably because Flicker was the main man and was doing things his way.
What if Mellon was the brains behind the end of last season, just Flicker hasn't let him have an input this season? That really would be a miracle! I'll just keep dreaming... Realistically though, seeing as I reckon we're playing league 1 football next season, I want to appoint someone who can regroup us and get us straight back up. Who? I have no idea!
I had $50 on him last time just think this time he will get the job.but then again I'm f*****ng useless at betting
No one wants to manage us so we'll just keep appointing assistant after assistant. Hill - Flicker - Mellon - Heckingbottom - ?
I think he's definitely got a chance but I wouldn't want him to get it. It's clear that promoting the assistant doesn't work long-term (medium term even) because the fundamentals are the same and, inevitably, still at fault. We've tried doing that, let's try something else.
I know a bloke that gets teams to league 1 playoffs, they always **** it up but at least we could enjoy the ride.
