Charltons ability to score seems somwhat similar to another club I can think of - Created loads of chances but cant convert (well apart from one excellent finish) If they'd had Viduka and Hasslebank up front the result would be very different I think
Charlton's support... They took 5,250 to Boro and all travelled courtesy of the club they support. They laid on 3 planes, 2 special trains and 52 coaches...... Just thought someone would find it interesting (Y)
RE: Charltons ability to score We'd still not be happy though - complaining that we ended up on the coach because all the plane tickets had gone! p.s. Should have been in reply to Wuzbrer!
RE: A club no bigger than BFC I agree totally. I think Charlton have performed wonders since they reclaimed The Valley, and they're getting excellent gates too. They also run coaches from the outlying towns such as Maidstone, Dartford etc. I can well recall in the 80's when they were struggling to make 4,000 on occasion and they went ahead and signed Allan Simonsen (European Footballer Of The Year and ex-Barcelona). Mind you, i don't think they could afford to pay his wages which i believe were £1,000 per match.
