Hope its true, but why do I have a nagging thought in my brain telling me that we are being taken for a ride?
    Hope it comes off.

It feels like the Kevin Phillips fiasco all over again, all the hope and expectation, just for him to go to a bigger club.

    I think it's a smoke screen

to lead other clubs off the scent whilst we do a deal to sign David Beckham on a 3 months contract straight after the Olympics. Think about it, how many players have we actually signed that we knew about before we'd actually signed them?

You have to wonder how genuine it is. In January we could only afford Dagnall and now we can afford Mido??

Mido was only on a 1000 quid when he signed for Middlesborough.

There was a big thing made about it in the press!

But the reason he left his club in Egypt was that they did not pay him enough, or on time . So I hope he really does only want a grand a week!!

I err on the side of 'publicity stunt,' which may be coming from one of two angles: 1) His agent doing a sort of 'Windass,' using us yet again as the starting name to try to get his player back into a Championship side, realising he isn't now good enough for the Prem; 2) Our publicity team in the hope of stimulating season ticket sales. I think the key give-away phrase in the club statement is 'Kevin Hill is on holiday at the moment.' I would love the story to be true and, if it is publicity only (we will see), it can only be good for us, as 1) it may indeed encourage season ticket sales and 2) it may make other players more interested in signing for us eg Norwood etc. I will be the first to eat humble pie if it comes off, but it just does not ring quite true yet, but should become clear this week. Good story, though. Got us all talking.

The Egyptian football league was suspended after a major riot killed 75 people in February. Perhaps the teams could no longer afford the top players!

Who said we could only afford Dagnall? IMO Keef had some budget but believed we would be safe and wanted to keep every penny possible for the summer. I dont think we'll sign Mido but I think Hill will sign another Mido / Vaz Te type player. Time will tell.

when have the club said he was on holiday?
Hes been but im sure in chron the it aaid he was back a while ago. Think the break must have been a working break in portugal.

Also the club never said they had no money, they said in chron no big transfer fee but they could afford wages.

Can't see any reason why it would be a publicity stunt

What would be the point? I think Keith's found a player of quality that he thinks he can work with.
