(Sheffield Star) It's not on the web pages yet as far as I can see, but it says they are looking at a "leave by mutual consent" arrangement following failure to get fit, and disciplinary for inappropriate tweets. Been training with the U18s.
Should have just thrown him in to get fit. Looking at goals he was scoring for Ajax a year or 2 ago he has the ability to be something special at our level. Let him get fit by playing games, not by sending him to run in the hills.
Tweets.... Must be in egyptian cos its strange the last few weeks he hasn't been tweeting in English much at all....
We can but wish Huge shame, both for the club and a player with immense talent thats just going to waste
Why would you give away players that you can sell? Crystal Palace, one of the best teams in this league wanted Matty Done. But he must be w@nk.
You can't just throw a player into a Championship game to get "Fit". It turned into a circus act when he came on against Huddersfield.
Barnsley presented him with the opportunity To kick start his career, which he seems to have thrown back into the club's face, sadly. I still believe it was a gamble worth taking, as was Garry O'Connor. The fact that neither worked out was entirely down to the attitude and lack of professionalism of the two players, in my opinion.
some you win , Vaz Te etc . some you dont. Cant blame the club really if the player doesnt want to make the effort then no matter how good he once was its best to cut our losses
Full article here By Neil Goulding Barnsley Published on Wednesday 12 December 2012 08:39 MIDO could leave Barnsley this week. The Star understands the Egyptian striker – who has played just 27 minutes this season – is close to leaving the club. Fitness issues and injuries are believed to be factors in the club having lost patience with him. Matters finally came to a head this week when Mido was docked two week’s wages, believed to be £8,000, for an offensive tweet he posted on his Twitter account. The former Spurs and West Ham forward subsequently deleted the post and photo of himself at a protest against Israel at Westminster. Mido had been in the capital to see a specialist for an ongoing back injury, his second major injury this season. Now the 29-year-old could be offered a deal to leave by mutual consent, providing a compensation package is agreed. Barnsley director Don Rowing said: “Mido has been disciplined for his tweet and he’s accepted his punishment. He accepted that what he did was very irresponsible and he’s been fined. We’ve dealt with matters internally. He accepted he’d been foolish and shouldn’t have said what he said.” Patience with the player has worn so thin that The Star understands Mido has not trained with the first team squad in weeks, instead he’s had to train with the club’s Under-18 squad. Mido is a high earner at Oakwell with only club stalwart Bobby Hassell in a higher pay bracket. Barnsley cannot offload the player before the January transfer window. Mido played in pre-season but didn’t travel to Marbella for pre-season training camp. Instead he spent a week in Rossendale with a specialist trainer to improve his fitness. But a hamstring injury prevented him starting the season and, when he eventually returned, he featured just 27 minutes as a second half substitute in the club’s home fixture with Huddersfield. Reds boss Keith Hill has not selected the striker since then with a back problem having meant he wasn’t fit to play. Hill is operating on a strict budget at Oakwell - probably the lowest in the Championship - so the time may have now come to offload Mido who should have been a success there given his vast Premier League experience.
