Given the attitude of some They appear to have wanted him to fail from the off and will be happy if it actually happens. I'd prefer him to regain his fitness and form and prove to be be a successful signing for Barnsley.
Re: Given the attitude of some You do my head in, talking sense and that. It's a risk, it always was. The injury came at the wrong time but it's still a risk worth taking and being patient for.
not looking for an arguement here but he certainly didnt look any thinner last time out than he did in pre-season. sure it can't be that hard to shift a bit of timber if you really want to.
every signing is a risk. Emile Sinclair, Akos Buszaky, Jonathan Greening and Marcus Tudgay are all risks in their own way but everyone seems to be giving them a chance. Yes, mido's injury came at the wrong time but he's no different to other players in the past who we've signed then got injured straight away. He'll be on a small wage so it is a risk worth taking. Some Barnsley fans have it in for the odd player every season without seeing them play and it winds me up
It was like that in pre-season. People just wanted to believe he's fat slow and past it, so the fact that he clearly had more skill and composure than anyone else on the pitch seemed to fly past them. I saw him three times in pre-season and he got better every game. He's clearly not with us for the money and the accounts I heard of him from the open day was that he was enthusiastic and fantastic with the kids. He's the big name signing that people have been clamouring for for years and yet all he gets is abuse from some quarters before they've even seen him play (shakes head in disbelief!). Give him a few games and he should prove to be a good player for us.
Some people just want an excuse to slag other BFC supporters off . I can't think of anyone who was saying he didn't have any skill he was just severely unfit for a professional footballer. I've no doubt that if he gets half fit he will be our best player but do you think he will pay one iota of notice to Keiths instructions when he gets on the pitch, his cameo against Huddersfield suggests not
I thought he looked much more trim. Hard to judge him based on his appearance, I mean i'd have taken Dean Windass any day of the week, even upto him retiring. He's played in the champions League, Uefa Cup and the African Cup of Nations. I know he's gonna be nowhere near as good as he was in his prime, but they say class is permanent. We should at least give the guy a chance he's only played half an hour afterall.
But will he be on a small wage, he wanted Prem Football when he went to West Ham for a grand a week, that were then so god knows what we are paying him lets just hope it is summat average and nowt daft.
I take the mick as much as anyone and he is one of our players so he is fair game as I see it. When he first came I said if the guy could lose the weight and put the effort in then we will have one hell of a player, but I doubted that it would happen and still do. My opinion on here is my opinion and if it upsets folk then I believe they are in the wrong place. Why do people get so irate anyway about someone having a different slant on any given subject. All fans together my arse.
Mido has a foto on his Facebook page for an Egyptian football match with a banner held aloft "FREE GAZA" Didn't know he'd been locked up again!!
