We know hes got pace to spare and can score goals but If he has a fault (apart from his triple somersault with pike) its got to be that he often sets off without getting the ball under control. So many times he tries to spin away from a defender and runs into a second one ,because theyve sussed him out, when it would be so much easier to control the ball and pass it to someone better placed and the look to go again.
Hes worked it well maing sure he came on loan rather than permanently hasn't he, albet in the back of his mind before coming here he'll have been saying to his agent 'this club could go down, i'll stay till the end of the season and then see what happens'.
Cant blame him bearing in mind our league position. I feel sorry for the bloke because the type of through ball he would thrive on is not being delivered to him. Hes obviously trying hard to make things happen for himself.
He looks fast His legs are going like bees wings and you always think he'll beat the slow lumbering centre half to the ball. But he never does. I'm so pleased he didn't sign on permanently and went for the loan option.
Whether it was a shrewd decision remains to be seen. I suspect Peter Raczi, having scored 23 in 24 appearances for Ujpest, thought he'd score goals for fun in the Championship too. He came on loan, no doubt hopeful of a better offer if his rich vein of form continued. When it didn't, he was hardly inundated with offers and has ended up back where he started. I bet he wholeheartedly regrets not signing up for 2 seasons of Championship wages! As for Mifsud, if he doesn't notch a few more, will he get a Championship contract next term? I have yet to see anything to convince me.
RE: Whether it was a shrewd decision remains to be seen. Agreed. Not good enough. That's why Coventry let him go!
RE: Whether it was a shrewd decision remains to be seen. How can you say he isnt good enough? whats he supposed to do when every pass to him is in the air when he been marked by a bloke at 6 ft 3"! we have seen what he can do when he gets the ball on the floor and can run at defenders, but maybe playing to his strength's is abit obvious, look at Cureton had nothing with us, first game back with Norwich play him a throughball on the floor scored,
Hes not good enough for a team managed by simon davey ie he is a complete waste of space when being asked to do a job that he isn't good at doing
Mifsud is a busy, nippy striker who's best suited to playing off a targetman imo. When he was paired with Adebola at Coventry he hit a rich vein of form. Bogdanovic is too lightweight and Macken drops too deep. Odejayi back then I say..........???
Peter Rajczi Not scored many since leaving us, so I guess it was good business by Davey not to keep him........ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Péter_Rajczi
absolutely right onemickybutler - perfect analysis - give him what he needs and he will scare the living daylights out of defenders...
Odejayi is crap, we all know that. I always thought though, that he needed to play as a foil for a pacy little striker to pick up the bits and pieces from the havoc his sheer physical presence can cause. When we eventually signed such a striker (Mifsud), Davey finally showed Oddjob the door. Then again, nothing Davey does ever surprises me these days.
RE: no better than Odejayi nt That is the most stupid remark I have read on here for ages. To say that Mifsud is no better than Oddjob is crazy. Ifg the ball was fed into Mifsud ON THE FLOOR and not a good foot above his head and he then did nowt, then I could see where you are coming from, but to say things like that when he has been given absolutely no fecking service is ludicrous. He still has as many goals this season for Barnsley as Oddjob any way.
I think he would score goals if he was given the right kind of service, but we aren't supplying it. In a way I am glad he has only signed on loan because if it was a permanent we would be lumbered with big wages for a player that doesn't suit our game. We need a target man if we are going to persisit with the long ball. Also ,I think in the summer, if he does want to stay and we want to keep him, his demands and our offer may be more realistic than the figures mentioned in January.
