An utter ***** performance from the referee. Firstly sends Mikel off for a good challenge, then plays enough time just to allow Man Utd a goal.
What a complete shithead.

Weren't Chelsea to blame for the amount of time added on? Given how long it took Mikel to leave the field! And surely, if you think the ref is "bent" then why didn't he give Man Utd a penalty earlier? Could have gone either way
That's already taken into account when the 2mins of injury time is allocated. The ref had chance to blow well before the goal was scored.
I thought quotation marks suggested i'd called him "bent"? In actual fact, I didn't - but I suppose thinking about it, ok, he is.
'A MINIMUM of 2 minutes' stoppage time' Is the key. So if the ref decides there's 2 mins 30 of stoppage time to be played, the board says 2 and he can play up to 2 mins 59 without the board being wrong... It's one of my pet hates with commentators who don't understand this.
And Mikel's was NOT a good challenge It was two-footed and I can see why he sent him off. Probably only worthy of a booking but I can't fault the ref too much. And before you say owt, I can't stand Man United.
RE: 'A MINIMUM of 2 minutes' stoppage time' And if the ref deems there are stoppages within stoppage time he can add more on.
Correct So that argument that Richard Keys is giving is utter rubbish. 2 mins 30 into a MINIMUM of 2 mins is perfectly reasonable.
I agree 100%, but where is the consistency? I have seen a LOT of time played that is under the stated period. Many a time I have seen matches on TV and seen the board say 3 minutes, only for the ref to play 2:40 ish.
I'm confused Who's playing at No. 9 for Manchester United :- Greg Louganis ? Rudolf Nureyev ? Or Louis Saha ?
We'll have to agree to disgree there mate. He should never have been in the position to have to make the challenge in the first place, but regardless, his trailing leg never touched the man u player, and his leading foot clearly took the ball. Yes, it was a hard challenge, but it was definately fair. If I was his manager, and he'd have shirked the challenge I would have questioned his commitment. I would back the player to the hilt.
RE: Lol - definately NOT a..... glad you said that, not me.
Saha was a disgrace - especially when you saw what Aghahowa did for Wigan yesterday. Rounded the keeper, only to be touched outside the box, most would have gone down nowadays. Aghahowa stumbled, but stayed on his feet, only for that to be his undoing, and the chance had gone - and Hahneman stayed on, Reading win.

The poor standard of referees Is spoiling football . If Mikel's challenge was worthy of a red card , how on earth could he only give Joe Cole a yellow ? Your comments about the Reading/Wigan game are spot on . When referees officiate like that , it encourages diving & cheating and discourages honesty .
Cheers mate. As you say about Joe Cole, I wouldn't have minded as much had Joe Cole been sent off for his challenge, and Mikel had a yellow - JC's challenge was cynical - at least Mikel went for, and subsequently won, the ball. The referees do make a rod for their own back sometimes, I do have some sympathy in certain situations, but not that ****** today. He made a rash decision to send Mikel off, without even getting the opinion of his "assistant". Both officials had got good views, but both had different angles. What harm would it have done to have a quick word with the linesman?
