Posted by @Archey last week, but buried in another thread. Thought I'd bump it up, as it's absolutely brilliant.

Gives an amazing insight into how the non-league game works, as well as Phenix's mysterious transfer to Barnsley. Sounds like someone in the club made a few quid on it knowing full well he was nowhere near good enough for league football. As the fee was only £25k it slipped under the radar, but how the fck was something as serious as Crohn's not picked up at the medical? Some real failings from our side, no matter how modest the fee.

Phenix himself has had some rotten luck over the last few years from the death of his sister to his own health issues and subsequent ban, so to be able to open up about everything with such candour and humour is very impressive. It's a great listen. Sad, hilarious and outright bonkers in equal measures.

I did a bit more digging and Mike's ban finished in May this year. He seems to be now involved in coaching kids in his local area, which is great to see. Sounds like his life properly spiralled out of control for a while after his ban.
