AS pre-season starts at Oakwell, Reds skipper Paul Reid looked back on May's historic promotion back to the Championship.

Speaking exclusively to www.barnsleyfc.co.uk, Paul said: "To be honest I think I am still struggling to put things into words really.

"I do not think I can do the events of Cardiff justice because it means so much. A few of the lads have told me that getting married and having kids is the happiest day of their lives but if it compares to anything I felt in the Millennium Stadium then I cannot wait.

"I think the look of raw delight on our faces at the end summed it up - it was a fantastic day and our supporters were outstanding.

"I do not think it has still quite sunk in and we had not realised just what we had achieved until we saw so many people come out to see us on the bus a couple of days later. That just capped an unbelievable weekend and I am not sure any of the lads expected so many people to come out and see us.

"I think I was expecting a quiet afternoon with a nice meet and greet at the Town Hall so I was lost for words when virtually the whole of Barnsley were out on the streets. I do not think any of the lads expected that and it really made us realise just what an achievement it is and just what it means to this club.

"We went outside to get on the bus and there were thousands of people in the car park. It is something I will never forget and I will keep every single thing I picked up during the weekend. It is something to savour and a great achievement for everybody connected with the club".
