a few posts from Millwall and hull fans on a forum i use Onto the Millwall fans, what a disgrace. Although not saying we didn't play our part but ripping up seats and charging towards both ends of the stand is a disgrace. They were very loud and would have been one of the best away followings if they hadn't of resorted to such pathetic actions. I have to say though, in a wierd way it made it a lot more exciting and there was actually some atmosphere at the KC for a change. Give me that over PL any day of the week. Continuing on the topic of the Lions fans, did anyone else see them take over Walton Club? ****ing intimidating walking past it was, all them lot outside eying up targets while the police and there dogs surrounded them. Apparently they knicked snooker balls out of the club too, so I honest to god hope they didn't throw those as someone could have got seriously injured (mind you they could have done with all the debri they were throwing). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reports now suggest that after the match they have forced a city centre shopping centre (St Stephens) to close after clashes with police there amid looting claims. Also major problems at the Eagle pub and rumours of 2 people stabbed on Anlaby Road. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I bumped into 3 lads on the train back to leeds at 7 o clock and they were adament that it was our fans that started it and they were just reacting, although from what I saw myself and from what I've been hearing it seems far from the truth. They then tried justifying their actions by saying "its just a group of young lads been lads innit" (with a southern twang, naturally). Not that I want to pigeon hole all the Millwall fans, but if many of them are anything like the 3 I met, then to be honest they're tossers who go to games just to cause trouble. I'm all for intense rivalries and atmospheres, but there are lines. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=meJ6X2BSW_U ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Millwall have just released an official statement - http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/page/New...531964,00.html Club statement Posted on: Sat 24 Jan 2009 Millwall Football Club strongly condemn the behaviour of certain individuals who detracted from what should have been an enjoyable and memorable occasion for both Millwall and Hull City supporters at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon. We understand that South Humberside Police will be conducting a full post-match enquiry. We will provide our fullest co-operation with any investigation in order that those individuals can be identified and brought to justice.
proper fans? well done Sarcasm for those not realising btw. Millwall always had a certain following hated by many, respected by lots, they will be in the news for a while to come.
I was at the game, and was in the east corner of the stadium, (what a game to go seat in that section of the ground) I got hit with a 20p coin & saw loads of coins (inc £1) flying about all the time. Bottles, seats, metal rods the lot. The cops just kept them out the east stand. They are total animals! A good % of them just wanted to fight & cause trouble all game long. It got rather scary once or twice! They tunred over one pub Friday night in town & another one before the game on Saturday! Some of the songs they came out with were pathetic as well, like we pay your benifits & loads n loads of money (whilst holding up notes) etc. Complete morans!!
Leopard and spots springs to mind Unfortunately Millwall has a hard core of "fans" who are only there because of the reputation and would have seen the cup game as an ideal excuse for a special fight party. I am really glad we passed each other when we got promoted to the championship - its the one easy to get to away game I would have serious doubts about going to.
another post here from a hull fan it felt odd looking in the away and absolutely ZERO colour what so ever, apart from a few scarves here and there, could tell that it was there firm coming in for trouble Chief inspector Darren Downs, who was in charge of policing the 25,000-capacity stadium, said the trouble was planned and organised by Millwall supporters. "We had intelligence that this was a planned incident involving about 500 'risk category' individuals among around 3,000 Millwall fans," he said. "We understand that some groups who follow the club identify one match per season to cause serious trouble. Last year it was an FA Cup tie at Coventry on the same weekend.
such incidents were commonplace in the 70s when i was a young lad watching barnsley (frickley, leeds and everton).. pretty much all throughout the game..remember leeds v man city (76) never seen as much violence by so many.. but i loved football then, it was all consuming, it was REAL!..
RE: i remember when we played millwall at oakwell the took over the pub up road from groggers n when walk pasted remember getting spat at n pints thrown at us n remeber it kicking off round bus station, millwall know how to cause trouble
