The thugs that follow MIllwall football club do so because of the historic reputation for bad behaviour and violence. Should the club, police etc clear out the morons that associate themselves with Millwall all they will succeed in doing is moving them on to somewhere else. I think blaming the club itself is probably not right.
Good idea but how would they do it? I watched a documentary where the police operation was filmed before and after a home game at forest. Both sets of fans were intent on meeting up, but the police kept them apart, and once the forest fans were safely on the train the millwall fans just turned on the police. The guy in charge of the operation was at a loss. He said they had tried to have a low police presence and being friendly, and also turned out in numbers and neither seems to work with them. When you look at the pictures of the pitch invasion against Leicester and note the variety of ages and sex that had confronted the away fans, it seems like many of them are proud of their reputation. I don't think they'll ever change. Without that reputation they're just another small club in the lower divisions. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Add the local police to that list. Anyone who knows owt about football hooligans know that it's a problem that can be easily solved - given the right resources. Millwall fans hate the Yorkshire police because they are less likely to accept any rubbish from them.
But the club itself doesnt make any real efforts to fix the problem. If they were serious they could start banning all those that cause trouble and condemn their behavior much more vociferously, but instead when for example at Wembley their fans ran round half the stadium to invade our area they put about a story we were all sitting there without tickets deliberately provoking them and were more to blame
As already mentioned. Without idiots they'd hardly have a fanbase. Their song "no one likes us, we don't care" is sang by them all, old and young. It's about time some of them did start to care, and start to be vocal about the fact that they do. It might rub off on some of the others knowing they're not wanted by their fellow fans. I read their forum and facebook during the playoffs and there was very little, if any condemnation of their own fans actions. They just seem to accept it, or worst still, defend it. It's almost a year since Wembley, and as far as I know there have been no convictions on either side regardless of tons of video evidence. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Swept under the carpet. My brother wrote to the Met, the FA and Wembley stadium afterwards. He had one response, from the Met, which basically said it was everyone's fault barring theirs. The FA just close their eyes to it.
