Yes I agree.....Millwall will consider themselves unlucky today. Hammill the difference, class against crabs. It's a good job he is a pillock when on the booze cos he wouldn't be here otherwise. Hth
Can't imagine why they should consider themselves unlucky...beaten by a better team over 90 mins who had two strong penalty shouts turned down.
Whereas alcohol is not an issue with you, pillockdom wise. Today's tack seems to be that without Hammill we are still clueless.
Did you miss the two stonewall penalties, and the three outstanding saves by their keeper? Barnsley got the three points they deserved in my opinion. In spite of the complete lack of protection from the ref.
Completely deserved the victory. Worked their ballax off and a draw for Millwall would have been a travesty!
The best team won today but have to agree with thereev in his other post about the goalkeeping situation. Goalkeeper aside the defence suddenly has a far more solid look to it.
Hardest working performance I've seen under LJ and the clearances off the line showed commitment and focus. Their goalie kept em in it saving what looked like 3-4 certainties. Also at least one pen turned down and a goal disallowed. I thought their equaliser in some way seemed fortunate. Did it just hit Morrison? Apparently they trained all week to stop Hamill.
Well 2 of those came during the same passage of play right at the end. We could've had 6 or 7 today if we want to talk about could've/should've incidents.
On another day we'd have scored 5. Their keeper pulled off three top saves that he had no right to even get close to. Took it off the feet of Isgrove when I was sure he'd rounded him. Dived down low to his right when already shifting left to stop Winnall. Tipped it over the angle of post and bar when I was sure Hammill had found the top corner. Yes it was bouncing around in our box a few times but then their main tactic was to hoof it long at every opportunity so I'm not surprised.
Millwall weren't unlucky today. I thought they were well beaten and outplayed by a better team (Hammill and White in particular). We did sit a little deep at the end but I was so confident they wouldn't score I even said to our kid that the points were in the bag and three points were won.
YES I did miss these stonewall penalties. The first I've heard about them is on here. I did however see a world class save from.the Millwall keeper
I saw 2 in the first half. one straight through the back of Winnall when he was 1;1 with their keeper in the first half, one again on Winnall at the end of the first half, where their defender had two arms around Winnall and moved him away from the ball as a corner came in.
Don't think anyone could have grumbled if we'd been six or seven up when they equalised. Two goals, one disallowed, two excellent saves from their keeper, two penalty shouts, at least one of which was inexplicably not given and our worst player Isgrove missed two sitters. At 2-1 Johnson sat back, went 4-4-1-1 and held the midfield back from going forward, just like at Colchester, inviting them on. Fortunately they didn't get their undeserved equaliser despite the goal line clearances.
