Didn't we have a crowd of around 4-5,000 for a League Cup tie at home to Premiership Burnley, at £5 or £10 per ticket and then a full house next game against Man United Reserves at £25 per ticket.
But your clearly having a dig at a set of fans for doing the exact same thing that any other set of fans in leagues 1, 2 and probably the championship would do.
The general tone of these things is that we should look down at those fans, as glory hunters. I always think: A) the pay on the gate crowd are probably not the same people every week at any club. It's probably a group of people who can make some games but not others. It's only natural that those people would make a special effort for a big game so the crowd is always going to be bigger. B) Clubs should look at it as an opportunity rather than a problem. What better way to encourage people to go more regularly than getting a big crowd through the gate and smashing a big club. Imagine the number of kids who will be enthused to go back after that. Any marketing department worth its salt would be looking to sell the next few games on the back of it. C) in all of the above the attitude that those fans aren't welcome is probably not helpful. (not saying that opinion has been expressed on this thread, but have heard it a number of times - including very loudly stated at matches)
Most of them where probably 'Man Utd' fans that live near MK. Much like when we played Man Yoo reserves loads of non-usual people from Barnsley came along to see them. Its just one of those things when a big team come to any town.
