being from featherstone i remember the stike well. i wasn't shouting scabs but it didn't bother me one little bit either. its all just banter between two sets of fans and it'll never change. i'm sure the people moaning weren't at all surprised to hear it. much rather hear that than F**k, ******* lovely person etc, thats get shouted every home match in the family stand (mainly from the same person). when i am with my two young children.
It just annoys the people who were affected because its all kids who shout it and they haven't got a clue!!
I beg to differ.........kids do have their fathers/family to remind them of the intransience of the Notts miners..........
99% of the kids who shout it use it as an excuse to be abusive. 1% actually understand the true meaning but that doesn't mean they have to use a football match as an excuse to shout it. Lets face it, its gonna get you know where and its not gonna change the past, so why drag it back up?
kids at what age. some of these kids may feel affected, parents blaming the strike for them being skint now etc. kids pick up on that. i admit they may not know what went off first hand. i don't doubt that some kids will have gone to the match with their parents orders to give em some stick.
Your parents must have told you the difference between right & wrong ...............even from an early age? Sausage Chips And Beans
In my (and a lot of miners eyes) it is wrong to SCAB.....ie break a strike..........political view here........I was in a white collar union in the 84/85 strike S - Sausage C - Chips A - And B - Beans Now that's what is universally called an acronym I guess you are younger.........much younger than me ........and perhaps not into Billy Bragg's politics?
i am old enough to remember the strike and although my dad wasn't a minor being from featherstone a mining town smaller than barnsley with a mutch closer comunity i saw first hand how it affected everyone around me, my friends, their parents, my uncles, cousins etc. i have absolutly no problem with anyone chanting scabs today.
dad not being a miner says it all.....you really have no comprehension of the hardship endured........don't know ifd that is a good or bad thing
stop talking ****! 99% of featherstoen folk were minors, i wasn't blind to it just because my dad wasn't a minor i was 9 year old during the strike and my best friends dad scabbed - i wasn't allowed to talk to him
OK ................i've been there..............got the tee shirt ..............been on strike for 52 weeks with no money for my beliefs...................have you?
i have every sympathy with you, and have said nothing at all against the miners, i suggest you go to bed sober up and read the posts again in the morning. you may understand them then. at the moment your going off on one, and i dont think you have even read a posts above. i was defending miners and the chanting of scabs at the matches but for some strange reason your after an argument with someone who is on your side.
If you called a scab a scab after the strike then dismissal loomed. However you could call a scab Sausage Chips And Beans. Ah The memories
