Aren't you supposed to receive texts/ warnings if you go over your data allowance? Not that I've ever got close, but if I've been abroad I've received warnings on costs etc. Just asking because my daughter is learning a very expensive lesson in using Wifi instead of 3G. I know she had a text telling her about last month's bill, (which she conveniently ignored), but there is nothing else.
I do with O2 a message when I've used 80% then if I use all my allowance they now cut my internet off and try and make me buy more. Use to just slow it down but not anymore
My son has a similar warning level with 3 network. If ignored, data connection on 3G stops once allowance used.
I get a notification but only because I've set a limit in my settings. Nothing from provider. I'm on a EE contract with 500mb but ddon't think I've ever been charged when I do go over.
EE are supposed to stop your data altogether when you hit your allowance. Btw, as @Ponty 72 says, there should be something in your settings to give you a notification when you hit a certain percentage (specified by yourself).
I've never noticed my bill fluctuating. Except for the apps I buy. In fact the cost of my contract has come DOWN since I took it out. No idea why but it has.
That's one thing I liked about EE/T-Mobile - don't get charged for going over your data, you have to buy a booster although a lot of the time your internet will still work you just can't watch videos etc. And when you go abroad, there's no chance of "bill shock" as internet only works if you buy a booster and stops when it runs out.
I top up mi mobile blower by £12 a month and get free unlimited text and day toh with 50 minutes call time as well as free calls to the same network so never had any problems
EE's data counter app ballaxed up last month, my 20gb went down to 0mb in a week but still works, as above, once allowance is used up nowt will work until you buy more
I found out the hard way how costly it can be if you go over. I woke up one morning to 3 texts from Tesco mobile saying I was near my limit...I'd reached my limit....and gone over. No use as the texts were sent at the same time as so didn't serve as a warning. It meant I had in excess of £50 charges and a temporary block on the phone (lifted later that day). But like others have said, some providers but a block on any data use once the limit has been reached
pass then, my EE data cuts off once used until i buy an add-on, i usually get a warning text too, their app has been playing up though
